REMINDER – STAMP OUT HUNGER 2025:

The 2025 Stamp Out Hunger food drive is this Saturday (May 10).

RULES FOR DETERMINING RESIDENCE LAWSUIT:

I don’t know if this is the first lawsuit after the latest Montana Legislative session, but I doubt it will be the last.

Lee Newspapers reported that the Montana Public Interest Research Group, commonly referred to as MontPIRG, filed its complaint on Tuesday over a bill recently enacted by the Legislature that they say unconstitutionally bars some college students from voting. The Bill is HB 413 and was signed by the governor earlier this month, and went into effect immediately.

The bill’s sponsor is State Rep. Jane Gillette (R-Three Forks).

It seems to me the Republicans are always trying to prevent people they think may vote for Democrats from voting.

The court should throw this bill into the trash can.

NEW POPE:

Congratulations to my Catholic friends on the naming of a new Pope.

The Associated Press (AP) reported:

Catholic cardinals broke with tradition Thursday and elected the first U.S. pope, making Chicago-born missionary Robert Prevost the 267th pontiff to lead the Catholic Church in a moment of global turmoil and conflict.

Prevost, a 69-year-old member of the Augustinian religious order who spent his career ministering in Peru, took the name Leo XIV.

These are troubling times in the world. I wish Pope Leo XIV well.

ONE MORE THING:

So many people these days are too judgmental. I can tell just by looking at them. (Source

  1. Too bad those out of state, non resident college students won’t be able to vote in our elections.

  2. That bill also appears to prohbit military stationed in Montana from voting. Montana’s Republicans hate Our Troops.

To think that students and military should have no say in the politics that affect them during the years they live here they as well as affects future students and military is ridiculous.

    • Thanks! I did not realize the part about the military. That makes me dislike it even more. -JmB
