MOST VOTES:
I am on the Nextdoor App and enjoy reading the posts and comments. The other day a fellow named Andrew posted something that set the MAGAs off so much that he turned off the comments. Andrew, in part, wrote:
“But now that final vote counts are in, Trump got less than half of the votes cast. More people that voted for president voted against him than for him.” (Source)
Andrew is correct in his statement. Sorry MAGAs.
Trump received 77,266,801 votes. If you add all the other votes for President, that total is 77,548,269 votes. That is 281,468 more votes than Trump.
All the other votes include Harris, Stein, Kennedy, Oliver, and other candidates for President.
So more people voted for someone other than Trump in the 2024 election. Yes, Trump won, but he did not win as strongly as the MAGAs think.
By the way, in 2020, Joe Biden did get more votes than all the other presidential candidates combined. (Source)
BIDEN SELLING PARTS:
I’ve seen posts on MAGA social media about President Joe Biden selling off parts of the border wall.
Snopes has even picked up on the MAGA propaganda, reporting this claim:
“In December 2024, U.S. President Joe Biden rushed to auction all leftover parts for building the wall along the southern border before President-elect Donald Trump took office.”
Here is what Snopes found to be true:
Leftover materials from the border wall were indeed auctioned off, as required by a bill introduced by a Republican lawmaker in April 2023 and enacted that December. The legislation required that the secretary of defense submit a plan “to use, transfer, or donate” all “excess construction materials on southwest border” no later than 75 days after the enactment of the law, and to start executing the plan no later than 100 days after submitting the plan, “until the date on which the Department of Defense is no longer incurring any costs to maintain, store, or protect the covered materials.”
However, the Department of Defense had sold all materials to auction platform GOVPLANET in a June 2024 contract, months before Trump was reelected. The sale had nothing to do with the timeline of Trump’s accession to the White House.
The MAGAs and their media lied about this. Biden and the DoD were following the law (PL 118-31). The bill was the National Defense Authorization Act. It was signed into law on 12/22/23. It passed the House 310-118 with Rep. Ryan Zinke voting Yea and Rep. Matt Rosendale voting Nay. It passed the Senate 87-13 with Sen. Jon Tester and Sen. Steve Daines voting Yea. (Source)
ANOTHER TRUMP LAWSUIT:
USA Today is reporting that President-elect Donald Trump sued the Des Moines Register and its parent company, Gannett Co. Inc., for publishing a poll before the election that he called “fraud and election interference” for saying he trailed his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, in Iowa.
So is this what we have come to? First, it was ABC News, now Gannett. I have heard that he is planning lawsuits against other media.
So much for corrections and retractions.
By the way, Gannett is the parent company of USA Today.
