The Monday Memo

Welcome! Here are the topics to start the week:

  • Great Falls Public Library
  • The Most/Least MAGA
  • Brawl of the Wild

GREAT FALLS PUBLIC LIBRARY:

The Electric recently reported that the Great Falls City Commission is scheduled to vote on a new management agreement with the Great Falls Public Library board during their Nov. 19 meeting after months of negotiation.

The library board will consider the agreement during its Nov. 26 meeting.

There is a “Show Up for the Library” Facebook event. Check it out HERE

This situation is caused by Great Falls City Commissioner Rick Tryon. He seems fixated on sticking it to the public library since his public safety levy request was overwhelmingly defeated by the voters. The voters approved a levy request for the public library. I voted for the library levy and against the public safety levy.

According to The Electric, under the agreement the commission will consider during their Nov. 19 meeting, the city would provide the full seven mills in the current budget year, which was already budgeted, then for the next four fiscal years, would provide 3.5 mills. There are other stipulations, but this was the main part.

I heard this agreement will probably be approved by both sides.

As for me, I have said all along that if the city commission takes any of the mills from the library, they will never get my vote for any public safety levy. I will encourage others to vote with me. When I voted for the library levy the city was already providing the 7 mills and the additional mills would help them provide better service. Now they will have to cut back on services.

As for Tryon, he posted some “reminders” about the library management agreement on his Facebook page and talked down to constituents about the plan while placing his spin on it.  (Source)

THE MOST/LEAST MAGA:

After the election results, I like to go through the numbers and see which counties in Montana are most “Red” or “Blue.”

In the latest election, I like to see which counties are the most MAGA.

After a quick check, these are the most MAGA counties and the percentage who voted for Donald Trump:

  • Garfield – 94%
  • Carter – 88%
  • Powder River 87%

Here are the least MAGA counties and the percentage who voted for Kamala Harris:

  • Missoula – 58%
  • Glacier – 57%
  • Silver Bow – 51%

Overall, Trump won Montana 58% – 38%. (Source)

Is this a great country or what?

BRAWL OF THE WILD:

It’s the 123rd “Brawl of the Wild” with the Montana Grizzlies heading to Bozeman to face the Montana State Bobcats. The game begins at noon on Saturday, November 23. It will be televised by Scripps Sports and will also be available on ESPN+.

The Bobcats are 11-0 (7-0 in Conference) and the Grizzlies are 8-3 (5-2). With their win against UC Davis on Saturday, the Bobcats have clinched at least a share of the Big Sky Championship.

    • He’s a joke, Swede. They’re laughing at him. But he’s indicative of what’s to come. Chaos. And then stalemate. They may have to 25th trump or face rebellion in government agencies. Implosion through incompetence. Every single pick is abysmally incompetent.

It’s the bureaucratic dilemma. Ever heard of it? Ya don’t change that overnight as dumb dumb is proposing, especially with an army of idiots with brain worms!

  1. If the City and Library end up agreeing on 3.5%, I think we can consider that yet another defeat for Tryon, since he was so militant about the entire 7%. Comes up short again. But not quite a total failure like his Crime Task Force and public safety levy … not to mention the promises not to raise taxes back in the days of yore. Call it a half-accomplishment.

Not sure it can even be considered solely his half-accomplishment however. Mayor Cory and Manager Doyon also seem to be in the overtly hostile to the library camp.

Wonder if even one single commenter at Tuesday’s meeting will pay the least bit of attention to his lordship’s Facebook dictate about what’s fair game for discussion. Hilarious.

  2. While the potentate of public safety and high commissioner of the morality police is forced to wait to steal more of the library money, there are things he can be doing in the meantime to further his MAGA cause. He can follow Florida’s lead and become proactive. Rooting out dangerous ideas is a never ending task for the micro minds in MAGA, and the library is full of them. They won’t rest until the entire library consists of the Bible and The Art of the Deal. And our honorable mayor who dislikes proclamations in general might just like proclaiming this. Right up his alley!
