Caught My Eye…

It’s Friday! Congrats on making it through another week. These are the topics that caught my eye:

  • Spiking the Ball
  • Tryon’s Advice
  • Flathead Warming Center
  • U.S. House Races
  • Project 2025
  • One More Thing

SPIKING THE BALL:

There’s been a lot of spiking of the ball after the win by Republican Tim Sheehy over three-term incumbent, Democrat Jon Tester, in Montana’s U.S. Senate races. All is fair in politics.

One such remark on social media was that Tester did not win his home county The MAGAs got a good laugh out of it. That is true. Tester did lose Chouteau County in 2024 by 55% to 43%. He also lost the vote in Chouteau County in 2018.

Something really funny is that the MAGAs forgot to check on Sheehy. He lost in his home county (Gallatin) to Tester 56% to 43%.

As one person said, the people in their home counties know them best…

TRYON’S ADVICE:

MAGA Great Falls City Commissioner Rick Tryon posted some advice for local Democrats on his blog and bragged about his correct election predictions.

Tryon tells the local Democrats:

“If Dems have any chance of winning again in MT and locally they’ve got to return to their common sense, working class roots and abandon the kooky, wokey nonsense that destroyed their brand and cost them dearly with voters.“

I’m sure the Democrats will get right on it. We’ve seen how well the county and city are run with the MAGA folks in control. I’m pretty sure that soon, voters in the city and county will get tired of having their taxes and fees raised by MAGAs and vote accordingly.

FLATHEAD WARMING CENTER:

Last night, homeless people in Kalispell, Montana, had a warm place to sleep inside. The temperature was supposed to drop to 25 degrees.

The Daily Montanan reported that the Flathead Warming Center will be open for overnight service starting Thursday evening for people experiencing homelessness in the Flathead Valley after a federal judge granted a preliminary injunction reinstating the shelter’s operating permit while the case plays out in court.

U.S. District Court of Montana Judge Dana Christensen issued the ruling.

Flathead County is run by the MAGAs who have shown they have very little compassion for those who are homeless.

Read the complete story from the Daily Montanan HERE.

U.S. HOUSE RACES:

The Hill reported last night that control of the House has yet to be determined as a number of critical races remain too-close-to-call, leaving lawmakers — and voters — waiting to see which party will hold the majority next year.

It’s looking good for the Republicans.

The Hill reports:

Republicans had secured 214 seats in the lower chamber as of Thursday evening, with Democrats trailing at 200 seats, according to Decision Desk HQ. A total of 21 races have not yet been called: Democrats are leading in 13 of the contests while GOP candidates are ahead in the other eight.

The Republicans will control the U.S. Senate in the new Congress. With President-elect Donald Trump taking over on January 20, if the Republicans control the U.S. House they will have a lot of power.

Several times I have watched the party in power implode because they fight amongst themselves and don’t get much done. They start blaming each other.

One other thing is that in the U.S. Senate to pass legislation they need 60 votes of the 100 members. It’s the cloture rule. (Source) That rule may save the country.

PROJECT 2025:

With the victory by Donald Trump, it looks like Project 2025 is back in the news.

We all knew the MAGAs were lying when they distanced themselves from it.

Axios is reporting President-elect Trump’s MAGA allies wasted little time after his election win before openly celebrating that the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 will set the agenda for his administration.

Axios also reported:

“Now that the election is over I think we can finally say that yeah actually Project 2025 is the agenda. Lol,” Matt Walsh, a right-wing podcast host, wrote on X Wednesday.

Ex-Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon praised Walsh and amplified his post during his “War Room” podcast Wednesday, telling his staff to promote Walsh’s comment on social media.

This is going to get interesting!

ONE MORE THING:

Monday, November 11, is Veterans Day! I want to thank all my fellow veterans for your service and sacrifice. God bless you!

  1. Pretty good summation.

Rich people (those making $100K+) went from +5 for Biden to +8 Harris. The rich are one of the only groups she improved with.

Those who never go to religious services were +26 for Harris.

Those who say they have no religion were +40 for Harris.

College grads were +8 for Harris and those with post graduate degrees were +24 for Harris.

The D base is college educated, wealthy, non-religious people. No wonder their losing Hispanics and working people. They are a party that’s increasingly rich, non-religious, and elitist – and out of touch.

    • It sure has changed over the years. I remember the GOP being for smaller government and lower taxes. Now the GOP seems to raise taxes and fees every chance they get.

  2. Can’t confirm, but I just read that 64% of Native Americans voted for Trump.

The other 46% threw beer cans.

  3. Not to worry. Trump and Jesus are partnering up to root out anti-Christian bias in this country and put religion back in all aspects of government. All we need is a MAGA hat, a Bible, and tax breaks for billionaires and we’ll be great again in no time! We tried democracy, and now it’s time to try christofascism. It worked so well in the Middle Ages! RFKJr. can lead the burning of heretical scientists. No more smart people allowed.

  4. I had an uncle that served in the 101st Airborne during WW2, I know he was wounded during Bastogne. He liked to brag about everything and he was a jerk to be around. I never one time heard him talk about his service, not once.
My best friend joined up right out of high school and wound up in Vietnam, he came back with a bum leg. He also never talked about his time over there. He was never the same guy I once knew and he committed suicide after a couple years home.
I think the people that really seen some shit would just as soon keep quiet about it.

    • Very true. I had an uncle who served in WWII and the family did not find out that he served under Patton and received several awards like the Bronze Star until he passed. -JmB

  5. I was born in ‘51, so I was raised by all WWII vets. They were our dads, teachers, neighbors, coaches, mentors, Boy Scout leaders and pastors. They were tough, disciplined, no nonsense, hard nosed men. You didn’t mess with them. They demanded respect and they got it because they earned it. Every Veterans Day I honor them.

I think about them a lot now days as I watch our two SEAL peacocks prance and preen about as if their military service was something special. It’s not. In fact their prancing and flouncing only serves to make them look foolish and insults all the other vets who’ve served who quietly go about their lives. The twin seals fought in senseless and unnecessary wars unlike the WWII guys who defeated fascism and saved the world.

I guarantee you you that if there were any WWII vets still around, they would give these MAGA pissants what for. They didn’t abide nonsense, nor did they suffer fools. Guess you could say that they knew sh*t from shinola. They came back and became some of our greatest senators, congressmen, writers, college professors, and intellectuals. We used to send guys like Mike Mansfield to the senate. Now we send an inexperienced bankrupt lying outta stater who actually shot himself! Mike Mansfield was one of the most respected men in the world. So to send a guy like Shady is a disgrace and big mistake. It hurts my brain just to think about it. From Mike to Shady. Boy have we fallen!

For lil MAGA fascist Ricky. He seems to forgotten if he ever knew. MAGAs weren’t welcome at one time in this country. They were considered to be losers and suckers. Not much has changed in that regard.

  6. Local Democrat Jane Weber managed to defeat MAGA Hannah Trebas and flip that district blue. By a substantial margin. “Any chance of winning again locally” just happened.

That, coupled with the ignominious rousting of incumbent MAGA extremists by Cascade County voters in the primaries, should give local MAGA foghorns some pause.

The political landscape will be different in two years, just like it was 2 years after Republicans were totally in the toilet after the 2008 elections. Trump will do somethimg to cause a backlash.

Especially if he carries through with some of his economic proposals. Gotta be a little worried about a guy who said he knows better than all the economists, and who wants to eliminate all the regulation on banks, so they can greedily get themselves into another 2008-like meltdown.
