As the dog said when his tail was cut off by a lawnmower, “It won’t be long now.” It won’t be long until Election Day 2024.
Here are the topics for today’s column:
- Ballot Issues
- Sheehy Bombs Interview
- National Republican Senatorial Committee
BALLOT ISSUES:
On Saturday I was made aware of possible issues with ballots in Cascade County. An email was sent to the Cascade County Commissioners with this information:
This email is a follow-up to voter issue you folks were made aware of yesterday afternoon, regarding a voter that lives in HD19 but received a ballot for HD24. This does not appear to be an isolated incident. Our independent research would indicate this is a systemic problem and there are hundreds of voters in Cascade County that have or will receive an incorrect ballot. This will affect all house district races in Cascade County and likely other counties throughout the state.
This information was sent to the local media. I have not seen any reports about it. This could have a serious impact on many local races.
Regarding my family’s ballots, they were received via the U.S. Mail early in October. They were returned (hand-carried) to the elections office on October 31. About 24 hours later they showed up as being received/accepted on the SoS My Voter page. I did not see any errors with my House District.
SHEEHY BOMBS INTERVIEW:
I imagine the plan was for the Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tim Sheehy to interview with conservative Megyn Kelly and be given some softball questions.
He bombed while answering her questions. At the end, Kelly said, “So confusing.”
At one time Sheehy said it was a fellow SEAL team member who shot him. Another time he said it was Afghans. There’s also a signed written statement that says he shot himself in Glacier National Park and went to the emergency room. The Park Ranger contends Sheehy did shoot himself in Glacier National Park. Sheehy was asked about medical records from the incident and said there were none. All hospitals keep extensive records.
Montana code says medical personnel must immediately report any stabbings or gunshot wounds to law enforcement.
You can view the interview HERE. You can read media coverage HERE and HERE.
No matter what happens on Tuesday, these scandals will stay with Sheehy for a long time.
NATIONAL REPUBLICAN SENATORIAL COMMITTEE:
This headline from Raw Story got my attention:
GOP strategists warn elites risk Senate majority blowing cash on fancy dinners
Raw Story reported that Republican party leaders are risking their chances of claiming the Senate majority in 2025 by blowing cash on high salaries and fancy meals, GOP strategists warned in a new report.
U.S. Senator Steve Daines of Montana heads the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). Jason Thielman, his former Chief of Staff in the Senate office, is now the NRSC’s executive director. The Washington Post reports that Thielman’s salary this year has been about $30,900 a month.
I am acquainted with Thielman. I figure his work is at most worth about $500 per month.
The committee has spent $3,915 at the sushi spot Nobu, $13,893 at the Ritz-Carlton and more than $83,000 in Nantucket for fundraisers, the Post reported.
Great googly-moogly. There’s too much money in politics.

## DON’T FORGET TO VOTE ##

Well, never discount that it could be an actual miracle because the Lord did tell Hannah, a homeschooling mom, that she needed to run to fix immigration and pass a safety budget. But me, being the skeptic that I am, always doubt if the Lord realizes that home schoolers don’t always have the best interests of public education in mind. But lil Ricky is probably thrilled to know that Hannah is going to rid our streets of MS13 and stop this crime wave taking over our fair city. And, we can always use more fundamentalist religion in our legislature. We’re sorely lacking!
Hannah in her own words. Pretty sure she’s MAGA.
Well that would just about figure wouldn’t it. Voters in the competitive Great Falls downtown central district HD19 who *should* choose between (D) Jane Weber and (R) Hannah Trebas somehow miraculously receive ballots for the suburban SW area HD24 telling them to choose between (R) Steve Fitzpatrick and nobody at all. Surprise, surprise.
There’s a very big stink on that, if true.
Like everything else we read, when there’s actual election wrongs come to light, it’s always the R’s doing it.
