It’s Friday and The Western Word is coming to you from deep within a bunker to protect myself from the MAGAs!
Here are the topics that caught my eye this week:
- Save America Rally
- CI-126
- CI-128
- One More Thing
SAVE AMERICA RALLY:
On Wednesday I wrote that I heard from a faithful reader that U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) might be in Missoula this Saturday to campaign for Tim Sheehy.
That is correct. The Save America Rally will be Saturday in Missoula at a secret location. It starts at 1:30 p.m. You must RSVP and on Friday (today) you will be notified of the rally location via email. The email with the rally location will self-destruct in two minutes after opening. The last sentence was a joke. You must have a ticket to enter.
I doubt Sheehy will be taking questions.
CI-126:
I received several more fliers in the mail on Thursday. One flier was urging me to vote “No” on CI-126.
The flier was paid for by the Montana Republican State Central Committee.
Since they are against CI-126, it must be a good thing. I was already in favor of CI-126 and that flier just made me happier about my decision. Political parties have taken politics into the toilet.
CI-126 will help put the voters first – the way it should be.
CI-128:
The Daily Montanan is reporting that more than 250 Montana medical professionals signed on to a letter released Thursday in support of Constitutional Initiative 128, the proposed amendment to enshrine abortion protections in the state Constitution which voters will decide on November’s ballot.
This is impressive – 250 medical professionals from Montana felt this issue was so important that they signed a letter.
I received a flier urging me to vote for CI-128. I plan on supporting it.

I look at abortion as a private healthcare matter. I have not always seen it that way. Do I want women to have abortions? Not really, but I want them to have a choice. I don’t know their situation and by voting for CI-128 I give them that choice and place my trust in them, not the government.
Check out the Daily Montanan article HERE. It’s very interesting.
ONE MORE THING:
Donald Trump said there was a “Deep State” and now he contends he needs to get rid of the “Enemies From Within.”
I checked the definition of the “Deep State” and here is what I found:
According to an American political conspiracy theory, the deep state is a clandestine network of members of the federal government (especially within the FBI and CIA), working in conjunction with high-level financial and industrial entities and leaders, to exercise power alongside or within the elected United States government. (Source)
I was a member of the federal government for many years.
As for “Enemies From Within,” I think that came from the 1950s and was used in a speech by U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy. (Source)
Trump used the term and suggested he would use the military to stop them. I took Trump’s remarks as he would squash anyone who is against him – like those who speak out against him or write negative things about him.
I’m raising my hand! I say and write things that go against Trump.
We have to let Trump know we don’t want him to lead our country by voting for Kamala Harris on November 5. If Trump wins, it may be the end of the United States as we know it.
## HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ##

Yikes! Shady is learning the hard way. Montana is still a small town with long streets. Like it or not, we all know each other. And we all have NO secrets for very long. You can’t hide. Only a person from Montana understands that. If I want to know something about Jon Tester, I can simply call anyone in Big Sandy and they’ll know. That’s why no one in Montana ever lies and gets away with it. You’ll be found out if you do. In other words, you can’t just get lost in the crowd. There’s no crowd here! Your lie will dog you until your dying day.
So when Timmy keeps lying and lying about lying, it’ll catch up with him. Shoot your mouth off about drinking with Natives? Yep, he got caught. Lie about abortion? Sure enough, it came back around. And now, the endless lie about the gunshot wound, is making the rounds again and it will never go away. He’s lied so much about that one that even the truth will look suspicious!
I suspect they did things differently in the state where Shady comes from. But Montana for the most part is still money where liars are about as welcome as rattlesnakes!

I don’t think anyone is in favor of abortions, but you are right, it’s the woman’s choice, along with whomever she chooses to include in her decision making. The truly sad thing is that many of the States’ current laws have unintended consequences as a result of vague wording which causes caregivers to withhold care for women experiencing difficulties related to miscarriages (spontaneous abortion) out of fear of legal repercussions. Vote “Yes” on CI-128 to save women’s lives!
Oopsie! Timmy caught in another lie. What’s new? According to every news source in the state, Shady doesn’t want to ban all abortions. Turns out little fella had his fingers crossed when he said that. Who ya gonna believe, lyin’ Timmy one or lyin’ Timmy two? Pretty hard to dismiss lies from the liar’s mouth! Maybe the tape has been altered again. Right Timmy? Or maybe you’re still recovering from that Coors can to the head! Too many beer cans to the head will indoctrinate a fella I’ve heard!

“According to a Daily Beast report, experts are warning that the Elon Musk-supported Polymarket, which the publication notes is funded by Musk’s close friend and GOP mega-donor Peter Thiel, is being “manipulated by multi-million dollar wagers to make him appear certain of victory.”
“In fact a whopping $30 million – enough to significantly increase the likelihood Polymarket tells its users Trump has of winning – has been pumped into Polymarket this fall from a quartet of accounts. Experts believe they may be controlled by the same person,” according to the Daily Beast, which cites reporting in The Wall Street Journal.”
MAGA ‘manipulation’ sends Trump odds skyrocketing on betting markets: report – Raw Story
I see that today our Republican mayor is touting a major new Calumet project that will be funded by a loan from the U.S. Department of Energy (a department national Republicans want to eliminate), to “to fund the construction and expansion of a renewable fuels facility” (a loan of the type one our local commissioners constantly derides as wasteful government spending for the renewable fuels Republicans pooh pooh), and “directly replace fossil jet and diesel; reduce MRL’s carbon footprint by producing more renewable hydrogen and electricity” (replace fossil fuels? reduce carbon footprint? woke thinking, according to Republicans).
So it’s all bad until it’s good, apparently.
Plus it will no doubt bring another wave of non-union Texans to town for a little while to build it out instead of hiring local union workers, who will put another squeeze on local rental living space and drive those prices up again. But they’ll spend a bunch of money whooping it up every night at P Gibson’s and then maybe drive home a little tipsy and smash into 10th Ave businesses but it is all good for the local economy. And hey more fodder for tax appeals, and 40 jobs long term.

Terry – Not sure why this comment ended up in SPAM. Sorry. Thanks for the information. I believe that Sen. Tester was the first to announce the Calumet funding. -JmB
Now I’m confused. Why is Shady bringing Tim Scott to Montana? I don’t get it. What demographic in Montana that Shady doesn’t already have locked up does a Black man like Tim appeal to? Very strange move.
Shady has already exhibited his formidable racist bonafides. They’re probably not going to be enthralled with anything Tim has to say. So it obviously isn’t to attract more racists.
Tim is a virulent anti-LBGQT crusader, and Shady already has that demographic in his pocket.
Not many Black folks in Montana, and I doubt that those that are here are going to vote for Shady anyway. Tim’s visit will mean nothing to them.
The christofascist crowd in Montana loves Tim because he’s one of them, so his appearance here won’t do much for that group.
And as far as I know, Tim has never shot his dog as Shady’s last guest Kristi did. BTW, anyone seen Cricket?
Tim is the county’s biggest cheerleader for school choice. He absolutely hates public education, and Shady has promised to eliminate the Department of Education. Only problem is that the vast majority of Montanans LOVE their schools. If Shady had ever lived in a class C town he’d understand what a fool he looks like.
So why? I think I discovered the reason for Tim’s visit. Shady wants people to think he’s not the bigoted racist he appears to be, so he brought in a token Black friend. And as per Tim’s history, he’s more than happy to debase himself publicly. He does so all the time with Trump, so much so in fact that he angers many Black leaders and white intellectuals. Tim is trying to provide cover for Shady’s racist debacles with Montana Natives. Will it work? I dunno. But to some folks it’s blatantly obvious what Shady is trying to do. He’s saying, “See, I can’t be racist. I have a Black friend!”
The author Jeff Sharlet said: “I hold Tim Scott in contempt, but the depth of self-abasement here is hard to look at. All the more so for understanding how Trump’s supporters see it, a racist inoculation against charges of racism that in turn ‘permits’ more racism.”
Wonder if our indigenous population will buy this inoculation? I doubt seriously doubt it. It’s a stupid ploy by a stupid man who thinks Montanans are as stupid as he is!
As a Vietnam veteran I have been struggling for last couple of months to understand what is going on with Montana voters support for Sheehy. He is up 6-8 % on Tester ,but why. Tester has done so much for veterans of this state. I have neighbors who are Trumpers who hate Tester and call him vile names. When I ask them why they says he lies. Really I reply, what about Sheehy? “That’s all made up stuff by east coast media”. Then they say he a Navy Seal they don’t lie. It’s basically we no longer have any good local major papers anymore, as the Lee newspapers are a ghost of their former self. But I do give Sheehy credit in that his organization and the National and State GOP have done a masterful job of hiding him from the news media. Unfortunately it appears he will win then Montana will be the butt of jokes like Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama. Sheehy will certainly embrace and be a loyal MEGA vote for whatever insane policies God forbid Trump wins. Well it will certainly be a Millionaire club of Daines,Zinke, and Gianforte all hiding from the voters of Montana. I guess sometimes things have to get really bad for people to realize MEGA was nothing more then a cult to a fool.
I don’t think the Tester Sheehy race is a done deal. The NY Times did an in depth article about Sheehy and his military service and gunshot wound. Here is the link. Pass it on!
Shady, Shady, Shady. Best that you stop digging. You’re in pretty deep now! You’ve managed to anger your fellow vets with your antics, thereby making all veterans look bad! Stop, just stop!
”As a Veteran-led organization, we are deeply troubled that a fellow Veteran may have misrepresented aspects of their service while trying to win a political campaign. Montanans deserve to be represented by someone who will be honest with them and the nation.”
