60 MINUTES:

Season 57 of 60 Minutes started Sunday night. I always record 60 Minutes because football is on so I can watch it later. 

One of the stories was about the prosecution of the January 6 insurrectionists. They reported that more than 1,000 Americans have been convicted in the January 6th, 2021 attack on the Capitol. About 350 trials are still pending and the FBI continues its dragnet for suspects.

I think the federal government is doing a wonderful job prosecuting the insurrectionists. I just wish they received longer sentences. 

One of the insurrectionists interviewed is from Montana. His name is Jerod Wade Hughes. According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Jerod Wade Hughes, 39, was sentenced to 46 months in prison. His brother, Joshua, was sentenced on November 22, 2022, to 38 months in prison. The brothers, both of East Helena, Montana, pleaded guilty on Aug. 25, 2022, to obstruction of an official proceeding.

SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS:

I guess after working for Donald Trump, people like Sarah Huckabee Sanders just adapted to his style of insulting and belittling people.

ABC News reported that Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris’ family life, saying the presidential candidate “doesn’t have anything keeping her humble.”

ABC News quoted Sanders saying:

“You can walk into a room like this where people cheer when you step onto the stage and you might think for a second that you’re kind of special. Then you go home, and your kids remind you very quickly you’re actually not that big of a deal. So my kids keep me humble. Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything keeping her humble.”

That was a very cheap shot from Sanders. There was no need for it. I don’t know why Harris does not have any biological children and it’s none of my business. She did help raise two stepchildren. Nonetheless, Sanders crossed the line.

Some people want Sanders to apologize. I don’t think that will happen. MAGAs don’t normally apologize – just look at Trump and here in Montana the MAGA candidate for the U.S. Senate, Tim Sheehy, has not apologized for saying disparaging things about Native Americans. 

JD VANCE DEBATE MEMO:

Out of the blue Wednesday afternoon I received a text message from JD Vance. Here is what it said: 

This is JD Vance with a highly classified debate memo for YOU.

PLEASE, delete this IMMEDIATELY after reading.

For a moment I thought I was in a Mission Impossible episode. 

So I clicked on the link and JD wants me to send him at least $15 to help him build his momentum leading up to the debate between him and Tim Walz. 

At the end he writes, “SUPPORT MAGA” and under his signature it says, “Future Vice President of the United States”

I hope I don’t get into trouble for not deleting the text after I read it.

  1. I’m basically an independent but certainly not this year. In the past elections I’ve voted some of both parties, voting for candidates that I felt actually wanted to help the citizens of Montana by solving problems that directly effected them on local,state and national level. I’m struggling understanding why Sheehy is ahead of Tester in every poll from 2 to 8 points. Is it the GOP wants to round out the muti millionaire club in D.C. by electing Sheehy. Maybe because Sheehy lies even more then Trump,or because Sheehy is really good at belittling and disrespecting almost more citizens then Trump. I’m disturbed by comments by my neighbors that call Tester every vile name in book. I recently asked a close friend why he is for Sheehy over Tester even after I pointed out all Tester has done for Veterans. He claimed Tester lies all the time, which I countered with give me an example. He said Donald Trump says so,like that’s reliable source. I realized the MEGA cult is so very strong even in Montana that’s a waste of time trying to present real facts to MEGA. I also tried using the agruement Sheehy will have no power for years to help Montana, that also went no where because they claim Trump said he will fix everything. I really hope the polls are wrong. Do we really need another Steve Daines in D.C.?

  2. OMG! Did you catch this one? Is this guy a door knob or what? Too stupid too work at McDonald’s! Someone needs to ask Shady and the Zinkester how they could support such a buffoon. I guess instead of SEAL team 6, we got team IQ 6! Have them describe how that big faucet thing will work. Did you know that Canada had very strict laws protecting their water? They knew that the imbeciles of the world would eventually try to steal their resources. And right on cue Trump and his barking seals plant the idea in the fertile mentally defective MAGA mind! Go figure.

  3. Trump claims “the crowd went crazy,” when he was fact checked during the debate. Must have been the voices he hears in his head.

Speaking of “insulting and belittling people,” I guess it’s no coincidence then that Shady Sheehy is conducting his little MAGA tour with Kristi Noem, a woman who’s been banned by every Indian reservation in South Dakota! Nope. Not a coincidence at all, but calculated, calculated to further insult our Native population here in Montana.

    The Native people of Montana are not asking much of Shady, just a simple apology to ameliorate the hurt and harm his uncalled for bigoted remarks have caused to good decent fellow Montanans, our first citizens. Instead, he doubles down on the bigotry by showcasing one of the worst bigots in recent memory. NO ONE gets themselves banned from every reservation in the state, especially the governor of a state like South Dakota! That really does take a special kind of bigot, one completely unaware of the state’s rich history and thriving culture of the Indigenous people. That’s a type of bigotry that’s incomprehensible to most people and borders on the type of abject racism reviled by the decent people of Montana.

    Noem appears to wear her banishment as a badge of honor. And by bringing her brand of hatred and bigotry to Montana, Shady reveals his true MAGA colors. We don’t need a senator who proclaims to the rest of the country that Montana is a haven for bigots. He doesn’t get to move here and pretend that he immediately knows our history and culture. It doesn’t work that way. He seems to have no clue as to what an embarrassment he is. And if he should happen to get to D.C., I’m certain we could expect endless embarrassments from him as he tries to portray himself as a real Montanan. He represents the outta state billionaire bigot class. That’s it. And that’s not who we are quite yet.

    I doubt our Native people would actually ban Shady from the Montana reservations. They’re much too civil, generous, and forgiving for that. And that’s too bad for Shady. He’ll have to look elsewhere for his own badge of bigot honor. Bringing Kristi Noem here is a start though. Maybe some of her banishment will rub off on him!

    Or maybe he should just apologize and join the Native people in a healing ceremony to put his insults in the past. I’m sure they’re willing. And he just might begin his journey to learning about the true culture of his adopted state!
