Caught My Eye…

Welcome! Here are the topics that caught my eye this week:

  • AG Austin Knudsen
  • Sheehy – Be a Man
  • Questionable Spending
  • Pure Privatization
  • One More Thing

AG AUSTIN KNUDSEN:

The Daily Montanan reported this week that the oversight body charged with disciplinary complaints of Montana’s lawyers have completely rejected Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen’s claims that he shouldn’t be subject to discipline because of his political position, or that they violate the separation of powers between branches of government.

This means that 41 charges of violating the rules of professional practice, which could lead to a suspension or revocation of the law license of the state’s top attorney, will continue.

It seems to me that Knudsen felt he was above the law. Maybe he feels like Donald Trump? I don’t know how long it will take for these charges to be decided, but it could affect Knudsen’s future.

SHEEHY – BE A MAN:

Lee Newspapers is reporting that under a drizzle of rain and overlooking the Billings skyline Thursday, more Indigenous voices joined calls for U.S. Senate hopeful Tim Sheehy to apologize for his racist comments.

They also reported that nearly two weeks after recordings surfaced of the Republican candidate reinforcing stereotypes of drunkenness among Native Americans, Sheehy has yet to publicly address those disparaging statements. The silence spurred the head of the Rocky Mountain Tribal Leadership Council to host a conference in which he asked Sheehy to respond.

I guess Sheehy feels he does not need to apologize like his hero, Donald Trump. Trump routinely insults people and groups and never apologizes.

QUESTIONABLE SPENDING:

State auditors told Montana lawmakers that they’ve uncovered more than $67 million in questionable spending of federal pass-through money in the state’s education department, including one district that bought massage chairs for the teachers lounge, according to reporting by the Daily Montanan.

It was also reported that as auditors reviewed the findings which, in some cases, were so incomplete that they couldn’t determine if federal law was even being followed, Montana Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen was traveling on an airplane and couldn’t answer some of the questions, to the irritation of lawmakers who said that relatively recently hired staff should not have to answer for Arntzen’s leadership or legacy.

There will be a new Superintendent of Public Instruction next year. That is a good thing.

PURE PRIVATIZATION:

Those on the MAGA right have their panties in a wad about a campaign ad that talks about the closure of rural hospitals across Montana if Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tim Sheehy is elected.

The MAGAs contend U.S. Senator Jon Tester is lying in the ads. His campaign ran an ad in the Lewistown newspaper and the local hospital posted a statement on Facebook saying they were not closing.

Of course, they are not closing now, but from the comments Sheehy has made about privatizing healthcare, there could be several rural hospitals close if he wins. His ideas could also have a detrimental effect on Veterans’ healthcare.

The fact is that Sheehy was recorded saying “Our hospitals have been built around federal health care subsidies. So in my opinion, we need to return health care to pure privatization.” (Source

Sheehy does not seem to be a fan of ObamaCare, either.

During this campaign season, I’ve seen so much shit thrown against the walls to see if it sticks that it’s hard to keep up with. The MAGAs have a person or two who just throws out lies all day long on social media and usually makes an ass of herself because of her lack of political knowledge.

It’s a damned shame what politics have become.

ONE MORE THING:

More than 67 million people watched Tuesday night’s debate between Vice President Harris and former President Trump, according to initial Nielsen research. (Source)

There have been about 68 million memes about Trump’s remarks:

“In Springfield, they are eating the dogs. The people that came in, they are eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.”

    • I have read some of Loomer’s comments and they are wicked and sick. I can’t believe Trump took her to the 9/11 ceremony. She reportedly said it was an inside job.

  1. So, the way I see it, we’ve got a constitutionalist sheriff, a constitutionalist mayor who thinks he’s king, a constitutionalist AG who thinks he IS the law, a superintendent of public instruction who’s too stupid to be a constitutionalist, and a carpetbagger SEAL wannabe constitutionalist who, when he isn’t shooting himself, is shooting off his racist mouth by insulting our proud twelve Native American tribes and fellow Montanans! Freedumb ain’t free. We’re all paying the price for electing MAGAs! No wonder the rest of the country thinks we’ve gone nuts.
