Tuesday’s Quick Hits

Greetings! Here are the topics for today’s column:

  • Montana Republican State Central Committee
  • Attacks on Vice President Harris
  • Blood on the Right Ear

MONTANA REPUBLICAN STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEE:

The Montana Republican State Central Committee is at it again. They are “educating” Montanans about the candidates for the non-partisan State Supreme Court.

I received two fliers recently. One for Cory Swanson, who is running for Chief Justice of the Montana Supreme Court. He appears to be a favorite of the Republican State Central Committee.

By the way, I am voting for Swanson for Chief Justice. I have known him for many years and he is a good person and one I trust. I think he will be fair and follow the law.

The other flier was about two candidates. One of the candidates who appears to be a favorite of the Central Committee is “Constitutional Conservative Dan Wilson,” and the other side of the flier is an attack on Katherine Bidegaray. They called her a “Liberal Judge” and a “Black Lives Matter Activist.”

Since the Montana Republican State Central Committee has so brutally attacked Bidegaray, she will probably get my vote.

I’m independent and I can do that.

The political parties should stay out of non-partisan races. They screw up enough things in this country.

ATTACKS ON VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS:

I’ve seen several attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris and many of the attacks have nothing to do with her stands on issues, but are personal.

One of the conspiracies floating around from MAGAs is that Kamala Harris cannot be President because her parents were not “natural born citizens when she was born.” Harris was born in Oakland, California.

That is crazy.

The other attack I have seen about Harris is like the recent comment from Megyn Kelly formerly of Fox News, NBC, and now with SiriusXM. Kelly responded to a post about Republican men attacking Harris with one posting “Kamala Harris got her start in politics by sleeping with Willie Brown.” Another person said attacks like that will backfire.

Kelly responded with:

Disagree. She actually did sleep her way into and upwards in California politics and most women (and men) may learn that and see it for what it is: evidence of an unqualified political aspirant getting ahead based on smthg other than merit. It’s relevant, and fair game.

It seems at least on X that Kelly is getting slammed for that remark. There’s something about her and Britt Hume and his divorce papers floating around since Kelly attacked the Vice President. I don’t know if it is true or not.

Rolling Stone reported that “The right can barely contain its racist, sexist contempt for Biden’s likely 2024 replacement.”  She has been called a biblical “Jezebel” and “a DEI hire” (DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). Of course, Donald Trump chimed in and called her “dumb as a rock.”

That’s not very presidential. Politics does not have to be this nasty.

The Harris for President campaign has reportedly raised around $81 million since she announced she was running. That should get Trump’s attention, if he stays awake long enough.

BLOOD ON THE RIGHT EAR:

Maybe you have seen the following post on social media recently. Here is part of it:

In the Bible the concept of blood on the right ear (Leviticus 8:22-24 and 14:28) serves as a visible mark of consecration, signifying that the person is dedicated to God’s service and has been set apart for a specific purpose.

This is the MAGA folks’ attempt to tie Donald Trump to something biblical.

Several pastors have said the post is out of bounds and that any Christians who have posted it should take it down.

It’s just another of the many crazy things we have seen from the MAGA crowd.

  1. She does have an odd way of speaking. She was attempting to appear likable – I think. Hard to tell. Really doesn’t matter. She’s not Trump. She’s not detested like Hilary. I don’t even dislike her. She seems goofy & harmless & insecure. Maybe she has the “impostor syndrome ” problem that I hear many women have. I did see how she handled herself at a few senate committee hearings. She did fine. She had enough balls to zap Biden at the debate about being that little girl the he didn’t want on the bus. Will I vote for her – nope.

    • Thanks for your views. I think she might be tougher on Trump than Biden. We’ll see in a week or so when more polls come out.
Of course, I would never vote for Trump. -JmB

      • Only fair to psychoanalyze the Trumpster while we are at it. I’d say he has “Fragile X Syndrome.” Take a team of Hannibal Lecters a hundred years to figure him out.

I won’t be voting for Donald Trump
