BIDEN DROPS OUT:
In what was going to be a quiet Sunday afternoon, turned into a media frenzy when President Joe Biden announced that he was no longer running for reelection.
The Western Word was one of the first websites to announce the news in Montana.
Shortly after the announcement, Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President.
Now the Republicans, like U.S. Senator Steve Daines, believe that Biden should resign as president. Daines in a statement, said, in part:
“If Joe Biden is no longer capable of running for re-election, he is no longer capable of serving as President. Being President is the hardest job in the world, and I no longer have confidence that Joe Biden can effectively execute his duties as Commander-in-Chief.”
Some of the local MAGA folks chimed in with their silly jokes and projections.
I don’t see any reason for Biden to resign as President. The Republicans want him to so it will keep Harris busy and off the campaign trail.
I think Biden did the right thing in dropping out. He has nothing to prove to anyone. His greatest accomplishment was beating Donald Trump.
Now Trump gets to be the oldest candidate (78 years old) and all that goes with it. He is too old. After watching his speech at the convention, the more he is seen and heard, the better the chance for people to see that he is not playing with a full deck of cards.

INITIATIVES LIKELY MAKE BALLOT:
Late Friday afternoon, the Daily Montanan reported that Constitutional Initiatives 126, 127, & 128 have crossed an initial threshold, signaling that all three measures will likely be before voters in the 2024 general election in November.
I already had a staffer for Montanans Securing Reproductive Rights drop by my house.
I think this is great news that these Initiatives will most likely be on the ballot. It’s important that Montanans get a say in elections and in reproductive rights. It appears that Republicans in Montana don’t really want the voters to have a say.

2024 SUMMER OLYMPICS:
Heads-up! The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris starts on Friday! The Olympics end on August 11.
The official website can be found HERE.
NBC is covering the Olympics. You can see their website HERE.

I don’t think that Joe is still alive.

Funny. Maybe they didn’t have the auto pen in Delaware where his letter about not running was initiated while he was isolated. -JmB
Swede, I don’t want to spoil your day, but here is an example of what your boy demented donny is going to face in a debate with Kamala! I highly suggest that you folks immediately enroll him in some sort of remedial English class for the slow witted so that he will at least stand a chance! But I fear it’s too late. Enjoy.
How come she sucked so bad in the primary 3 years ago, Scary?
Swede:
Because she was facing many talented, qualified and non-dbag Dem candidates?
We shall see. Aside from anything else simply “Not Trump” is going to garner her a ton of votes. The overwhelming repulsion to the fat liar crook is good enough for a huge percentage of the country.
Swede, got your uniform yet? Try for a commission, just like in the old confederacy. Col. Swede of the first MAGA irregulars! I’m goin’ for general!

someone should tell uncle steve that 6 months of president Harris is probably not in his party’s best interest. if he could think for himself he would know that… but thinking for himself has always been a bridge too far for uncle steve
on an unrelated note here in bozangeles the closed 19th interstate rest stop – state land – is covered with republican candidate campaign signs? how is that ok?
Daines is a partisan ass that puts his party above all else and that includes Montana and the USA.
As for the campaign signs, if that is state property then it is wrong. They must be placed on private property.
Thanks, JmB
The site of the rest area on 19th in Bozeman was sold/traded for a new rest area to be built near Wheat Montana at the junction of Hwy 12 and I-90.
It was very controversial at MDT but the sale when forward.
There were problems with the new site but do not know if the new rest area has been completed.
so, it’s not a political problem per se.
File a complaint with Gianforte’s COPP so he can write another scholarly treatise for our reading pleasure as to why he isn’t going to bother to enforce state elections laws. In fact, just quit bothering me at all, you people.
Dear Mr. President, the only way you can get that Trump fist raised fight fight fight photo off the front pages is to drop out of the race.
Mission accomplished! 😂
Trump’s phony staged assassination attempt was nothing more than a ploy to focus the media attention back on him, and now Biden has one upped him by shifting the narrative back to the Dems. As an added bonus tubby boy is making himself look very mean, puny, and demented with all his subsequent Biden Derangement Syndrome social media whining and bile.

Jacobsen and Knudsen are still doing their best to stop those initiatives by hook or by crook, and keep the people from voting on the issues.
They appealed the decision to require counting of inactive voters to the state Supreme Court, claiming the situation is dire emergency. Despite the fact that by gross numbers all the initiatives seem to have well more than enough valid signatures even without the inactive voter signatures.
I suspect there are probably some house districts that are really really close in the “10% of voters in 51 House Districts” requirement, so Jacobsen and Knudsen are hoping that if they can disqualify a few inactive voters out of a few of those districts they can then claim the petitions did not meet the signature requirements.
What are you so afraid of, Christi and Austie (and others)? Let the people vote. Majority rules, whichever way it turns out. If these issues truly are unpopular they will be defeated at the ballot box. This continued abuse of State offices to prevent the people from exercising their constitutional right to bring forth and vote directly on issues is attempted “minority rule”.

Great points. I hope they fail miserably. Thanks, JmB
I prosecuted sex predators. Trump is one.
I shut down for-profit scam colleges. He ran one.
I held big banks accountable. He’s owned by them.
I’m not just prepared to take on Trump, I’m prepared to beat him.
My new favorite hero, Kamala!
The maggies are already wetting themselves. “It’s not fair” they whine to send a real warrior woman to do battle with their demented felon and rapist Don the con. They’re already attacking her the only way they know how, crudely, by her race and gender. Sebastian Gorka said she’s a DEI hire because of a “vagina and skin color!” Real classy, right?
This ought to be fun, because even though the press has done everything they could to normalize and legitimatize Trump, the gloves are coming off. The absurdity of running a pathetic human dreg like trump to be president of the United States will be made abundantly clear now. The clown show will soon be over!
