TRUMP/VANCE 2024:
After the word leaked that U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and Governor Doug Burgum had been notified by the Trump campaign that they were not selected to run with Donald Trump as his Vice President, about the only person left was U.S. Senator JD Vance of Ohio.
A little while later, Trump notified the world via Truth Social:
After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio. J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Cum Laude, and is a Yale Law School Graduate, where he was Editor of The Yale Law Journal, and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association. J.D.’s book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” became a Major Best Seller and Movie, as it championed the hardworking men and women of our Country. J.D. has had a very successful business career in Technology and Finance, and now, during the Campaign, will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond….
Vance and I have something in common, besides being veterans. It was reported that Vance did not vote for Trump in 2016. I did not vote for Trump in 2016, either. I did not vote for Trump in 2020 and won’t be voting for him in 2024.
From reports I have read, in the past, Vance did not like Trump very much. Reuters is reporting:
Eight years ago, in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, J.D. Vance was a bitter critic of Donald Trump.
Publicly, he called the Republican presidential candidate an “idiot” and said he was “reprehensible.” Privately, he compared him to Adolf Hitler.
It appears that all of a sudden, Vance saw that he needed to be a MAGA guy if he was going to get anywhere. So, he kissed the ring and look where it got him!
I don’t have any respect for people who change their views just to obtain power. We’ve seen the likes of Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and others being slammed brutally by Trump and then coming around to kiss his ass. Real men don’t fold like that.
Vance has led a successful life. He has nothing to prove to anyone. I just wish he would have stood up to Trump instead of joining the circus.
CASCADE COUNTY DETENTION CENTER:
I happened to watch an update online from Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter and KRTV in Great Falls has a report posted online about recent deaths at the Cascade County Detention Center.:
Slaughter said on Monday, July 15, 2024, that three inmates in the detention center have died within the last two weeks. The three deaths were separate incidents; the dates of each have not yet been released. Slaughter said that two of the deaths were suicides, and the third was a drug overdose.
It appears that two of the deaths were suicide – asphyxiation due to hanging, while the other one is a suspected drug overdose, although the cause of that one is still pending.
There will be an investigation conducted by the Montana Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation.
This is a very sad situation. I hope steps are taken to prevent others from doing the same. I look forward to reading the report from the investigation.

Even long time republicans aren’t thrilled with Vance.
