Greetings faithful readers! Thanks for stopping by The Western Word. Here are the topics for today’s commentary:
- Hunter Biden Convicted
- Great Falls International Airport
- Bigots, Jackasses, Homophobes, & Racists?
HUNTER BIDEN CONVICTED:
As you probably already know, Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has been convicted of all three felony charges related to the purchase of a revolver in 2018 when, prosecutors argued, the president’s son lied on a mandatory gun-purchase form by saying he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs. So far, I have not heard any Democrats cry that the Biden verdict was the weaponization of the judiciary or politicization of the courts like Republican Steve Daines did when his mentor, Donald Trump, was found guilty of 34 felony counts.
President Joe Biden said he would not issue a pardon for his son. I think that could change in November. If Biden wins, he can’t run again so he could not suffer any repercussions by doing it. If Biden loses, he has nothing to lose by pardoning his son. You know Trump would do it.
One of the wackiest remarks about the Biden trial came from Vivek Ramaswamy, who was once a Republican presidential candidate. He posted the following on social media:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the Hunter Biden trial was a sham. It’s a smoke screen to legitimize the Trump conviction & to deflect attention from the Biden family’s actual likely crimes: selling off our foreign policy to make their family rich. Don’t fall for it.
Ramaswamy’s post has 76,000 likes on X which means some idiot MAGAs feel that way.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump leads Hunter Biden 34-3 in felony convictions!
GREAT FALLS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
The Electric reported this week that the Great Falls International Airport board recently gave the airport director a favorable review and pay increase. John Faulkner has been the airport director since 2010. During their May 28 meeting, the airport board unanimously voted to approve a three percent pay increase for Faulkner. That brings his annual salary to $197,752.
I was not thrilled with the way the last airport director was treated and wrote extensively about it when it was going on. Faulkner seems to have been able to navigate through the shitstorm and calm the waters, plus the good old boys on the board have changed.
The Electric also noted in the article that Great Falls City Manager Greg Doyon is making $197,747.68.
I guess the one who makes it to $200k is the winner…
BIGOTS, JACKASSES, HOMOPHOBES, & RACISTS?
Apparently, someone got under Great Falls City Commissioner Rick Tryon’s skin again. He penned a column that was posted on the E-City Beat blog:
Tryon says:
In light of some of the recent chatter around town I thought this would be a good time to offer my own opinion on the character of my hometown.
I grew up in Great Falls in the 1960’s and 1970’s. I raised my own two daughters here and helped to get a couple of my grandkids started right here in the Electric City, so I take strong exception to some of the disparaging, insulting, and divisive comments which have made it into the local news recently about the kind of community this is and people who live here.
Despite what some of the loudest most obnoxious local voices would have you believe, the overwhelming majority of folks in this community are not bigots, homophobes, racists or haters.
He does ask the question, “Are there jackasses in this town?” He answers his question with, “Sure, just like in any other town.”
I think I know one…

Tryon says thay with a straight face, despite the evidence of his fellow running dogs going nuts over a drag queen story hour the library put on the Internet, or the naked homophobia his Facebook followers post hiding behind their “religious beliefs”.
Nope. No siree. No bigots or haters in Montana. Guess that Rick forgot for a moment that he’s a MAGA, the most hateful, bigoted, racist cult the country has seen in a long time. Just google it. It’s all there.
But glad to know that Rick finally sees that things are pretty good in ol’ GF. Guess that obviates the need for his endless whining and haranguing for increased safety budget money. This is a good thing. Problem solved. Crime is over thanks to Rick. He just officially declared it over.
But the reality is that hate currently permeates all of Montana, even at the highest levels of our government. And to say otherwise is simply MAGA gaslighting. While Rick claims he’s tolerant of gays, in the next breath he supports doing away with the Pride proclamation. That’s MAGA logic. Or some might term it jackassery. Either one fits nicely!
