Don’t forget that today, Tuesday, June 4, is primary election day in Montana. This is a chance for “we the people” to have our say.

This is going to be an interesting primary. I will be monitoring the results throughout the evening and posting them on X (formerly Twitter) @TheWesternWord.

TROY DOWNING:

At 4:51 p.m. Monday, I received a “Breaking News” text message from Troy Downing telling me that he received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.

On Truth Social, Trump posted:

Troy Downing is running to represent the fantastic people of Montana’s 2nd Congressional District. As Montana’s very popular State Auditor, Troy is a Combat Veteran and successful entrepreneur who knows how to create jobs, protect our Military, and represent Montana values in Congress. Troy will fight to Lower Inflation, Secure our Border, Champion American Energy Independence, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment. Troy Downing has my Complete and Total Endorsement!

I guess Trump missed the part where Downing called him an “idiot” and “liar.”

Since this is late in the game (Election Day is today), I don’t know how much this endorsement will help Downing. MTN News reports that as of Sunday night, the Montana Secretary of State’s Office reported that election officials had already received 188,246 absentee ballots. That’s just under 42% of the 449,224 ballots sent out across the state – and already 25% of the 753,169 registered voters in Montana.

TRUMP & TIKTOK:

The Associated Press (AP) reported that Trump has joined the popular video-sharing app TikTok, a platform he once tried to ban while in the White House, and posted from a UFC fight two days after he became the first former president and presumptive major party nominee in U.S. history to be found guilty on felony charges.

The AP says that by Sunday morning, Trump had amassed more than 1.1 million followers on the platform and the post had garnered more than 1 million likes and 24 million views.
