CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS:
Yesterday the Daily Montanan reported about the latest campaign finance reports for the federal races. My overall thought on the latest report is that having a few million dollars to throw into a political race must be nice. These folks don’t really live the life that most Montanans do. How can we expect them to understand our problems?
In the U.S. Senate race, the Daily Montanan says challenger Tim Sheehy has loaned his campaign more than $2 million.
Great googly moogly.
According to the Daily Montanan:
In the 2nd Congressional District race, Troy Downing has now loaned his campaign more than $1 million so far this cycle.
Former Congressman Denny Rehberg raised the second most among Republicans during the six-week period, bringing in about $222,000, though that includes a $150,000 loan he gave his campaign. Rehberg reported spending $146,000 on the campaign and paid back $300,000 worth of loans he’d given his campaign and ended the period with about $148,000 in cash on hand.
Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen has now loaned her campaign $750,000 for the cycle.
In the Democratic primary, Broadus’ Steve Held raised and spent the most during the six-week period. He reported $40,000 in money raised, including a $15,000 loan to his campaign.

APPROVAL RATINGS:
Gallup is reporting that less than six months before Election Day, Americans’ approval ratings of President Joe Biden and Congress remain well below average. Biden’s current 39% job rating is on the low end of the 37% to 44% readings he has received since September 2021, and it falls short of his 43% term average. Congress’ latest 13% approval marks its 16th consecutive rating under 21%, the average since January 2021. Majorities of Americans continue to disapprove of the way Biden (56%) and Congress (81%) are handling their jobs.
These findings are from a May 1-23 Gallup poll, which began one week after Biden signed a bipartisan bill providing aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan into law.

TRUMP’S MEMORIAL DAY MESSAGE:
I had a few people point out a message from former President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social page Monday:
Happy Memorial Day to All, including the Human Scum that is working so hard to destroy our Once Great Country, & to the Radical Left, Trump Hating Federal Judge in New York that presided over, get this, TWO separate trials, that awarded a woman, who I never met before (a quick handshake at a celebrity event, 25 years ago, doesn’t count!), 91 MILLION DOLLARS for “DEFAMATION.” She didn’t know when the so-called event took place – sometime in the 1990’s – never filed a police report, didn’t have to produce the “dress” that she threatened me with (it showed negative!), & sung my praises in the first half of her CNN Interview with Alison Cooper, but changed her tune in the second half – Gee, I wonder why (UNDER APPEAL!)? The Rape charge was dropped by a jury! Or Arthur Engoron, the N.Y. State Wacko Judge who fined me almost 500 Million Dollars (UNDER APPEAL) for DOING NOTHING WRONG, used a Statute that has never been used before, gave me NO JURY, Mar-a-Lago at $18,000,000 – Now for Merchan!
I am ashamed that our country elected Trump President. He is a disgrace. He does not honor veterans; he uses them for campaign props. He’s called those servicemembers killed in war “suckers” and “losers.” (Source)
The jury in his hush money trial is getting ready to deliberate. Trump faces 34 felony falsification of business records counts that carry a sentence of up to four years in prison and a $5,000 fine, each.
I hope he is found guilty and is sent away for a long, long time.
ONE MORE THING:
I almost forgot that yesterday (May 28) was Dazed and Confused day! The 1993 comedy film Dazed and Confused takes place on May 28, 1976, the last day of school at Lee High School in Austin, Texas. (Trailer)
That movie mirrors my life very closely.

Screw the Natives, as always. But now we’re all natives!
Trump won’t go to jail. He’s a guy with lots of money to throw at the legal system. Jail is for regular people. That’s the American way.
Approval ratings aside, the real issue should be how Trump is still a viable candidate in spite of severe advanced dementia. Hard to believe that our MAGA candidates like Arntzen, Zinke, Sheehy still worship him as their god. What’s wrong with these people, and how has our press allowed the country to get to this point without some serious discussion instead of endless gaslighting?
The mental health experts are sounding the alarm. One thing I have learned the hard way in my life is that doctors don’t lie. If they tell you you’re sick, you’re sick! And they’re now telling us this crazy SOB is entering the final stages of dementia, just as his father did. Most sensible people are concerned. Why aren’t the MAGAs? Anyone left in the press with the balls to ask them?
The implications of all this are mind boggling.
