Hello! Here are the topics that made today’s column:

EDUCATION LEVELS FOR LARGER MONTANA COUNTIES:
After his Nevada Caucus win in 2017, Donald Trump proclaimed, “We won the evangelicals, we won with young, we won with old, we won with highly educated, we won with poorly educated! I love the poorly educated.” (Source)
I happened to catch a post on X from Chris Mehl who was sharing data from Headwaters Economics and U.S. Census Bureau about education levels for larger Montana counties. They found that Cascade County (Great Falls) has the most dropouts (6.6%) and the fewest w/college (27.6%). (Source)
I guess that is why there are so many MAGA folks in Cascade County…
ABORTION IN MONTANA:
MTN News is reporting that the Montana Supreme Court says a proposed ballot measure that would specifically protect access to abortion in the state constitution can continue through the process, overturning a decision from Attorney General Austin Knudsen to block the measure. In a ruling Monday, six of the seven justices agreed that the measure – informally called Ballot Issue 14 – did not violate the state’s requirement that unrelated changes to the constitution be voted on separately.
Six of seven justices agreed which means Knudsen’s block of the measure was way off base. He is letting his personal feelings get in the way of our constitution.

MLB OPENING DAY:
The 2024 MLB season begins overseas with a matchup between the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers in Seoul, South Korea. The Dodgers and Padres will play on Wednesday, March 20, and Thursday, March 21. This will be the first time an official MLB game has been played in South Korea. A week after the games in South Korea, MLB Opening Day is slated for Thursday, March 28, 2024.

ONE MORE THING:
Here is the most recent song that is stuck in my head…
I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain
I’ve seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I’ve seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I’d see you again
-“Fire and Rain” by James Taylor (Video)

A little Wednesday MAGA humor to lighten the mood.

I’m sure Austie will find another way to thwart the intent of the Montana constitution and further delay that referendum by dithering over the language of that pro-choice initiative. And then the news stories say there’s a legislative review too, which was a new restriction on referendums the legislature passed and we were assured “don’t worry your pretty little heads” applied only to constitutional amendments they themselves proposed but now it seems like it’s what everyone thought all along, a way to insert themselves between the citizens and any referendum and block them if they don’t like them.
I don’t like it when people like Knudsen try to keep the citizens from voicing their opinion. He must not think the voters will agree with him. Thanks, JmB
Exactly. Knudsen, Gianforte, and the legislature too.
And not just only this pro-choice initiative but also others that have been proposed, like the property tax thing and the primary elections idea. They fight tooth and nail to keep citizens from exercising our constitutional right to propose and vote on things directly and make our own decisions on these questions. Because these politicians don’t see themselves as working for us, they have decided they are our masters.
