BUSSE/GRAYBILL 2024:

The Daily Montanan reports that on Monday, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ryan Busse announced Raph Graybill, who ran for attorney general in 2020, as his pick for lieutenant governor.

According to the Busse for Governor website:

Born and raised in Great Falls, Raph served four years with the New York City Police Department as an Auxiliary Police Officer, patrolling the streets of Harlem in the 26th Precinct of New York City. In law school, he prosecuted terrorism suspects held in Guantanamo Bay.
He is a graduate of Great Falls High School, Columbia University, Yale Law School, and the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
Since (Greg) Gianforte became governor, Raph has blocked 14 different unconstitutional laws that invade Montanans’ Constitutional rights. Raph is also undefeated against Gianforte in blocking the Governor’s unconstitutional abortion bans.

I like this pick. I think Graybill is an outstanding choice for lieutenant governor. This race just got a lot more interesting.

MONTANA PRESIDENT 2024:

NonStop Local News reported that if the presidential election were held today among likely voters in Montana, a recent poll done by Survey USA suggests that former President Donald Trump would win the state easily over his Democratic counterpart, Joe Biden, by 22 points.

The next part is a head-scratcher to me…

The poll of 549 likely voters from across Montana shows Trump would win 51%-29% with a margin of error of +- 4.5%. To put this into perspective, Trump won Montana by 16 points back in 2020.

So, it looks as though with Trump facing a total of 91 charges across four criminal cases that include 44 federal charges and 47 state charges, all of them felonies, (Source) the nutty backward-thinking MAGA folks in Montana will support him even more than they did 2020.

Beam me up, Scotty…

EASTERN MONTANA HOUSE RACE:

From the worldwide headquarters of The Western Word, I heard some rumors that Congressman Matt Rosendale, days after being slapped down by Steve Daines and Donald Trump, may say the hell with it and not seek reelection.

I imagine his feelings are pretty hurt. His party screwed him.

He has until March 11 to make a decision. That is when candidate filing closes in Montana.

Lee Newspapers recently did a story about the other candidates who have announced and/or filed to run for the seat, and only one said they would change their mind about running if Rosendale runs for reelection.

With so many candidates in the Republican primary, name recognition will mean a lot. If that is the case, then Elsie Arntzen and Troy Downing who are both statewide elected candidates should be the frontrunners. Then if Denny Rehberg enters…

Check out the Lee Newspapers story HERE.

The Montana Free Press tries to keep up with the candidates HERE.

  1. Immigration Act, signed in 1907, would exclude – “All idiots, imbeciles, feebleminded persons, epileptics, insane persons, and persons who have been insane within five years previous; persons who have had two or more attacks of insanity at any time previously; persons not comprehended within any of the foregoing excluded classes who are found to be and are certified by the examining surgeon as being mentally or physically defective…”

Dang!! That would cost the US a lot of new MAGAts to join the trump-chumps.
