Tuesday’s Quick Hits

Greetings! Here are the topics I am providing commentary about for today’s column:

  • Secretary of Defense
  • Chinese Spy Balloon
  • Michigan Wolverines

SECRETARY OF DEFENSE:

I don’t know if you have been following the issue with Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin being hospitalized and the White House not being informed of it, but this is one of the craziest things I’ve seen in a long time. Now, a Montana lawmaker wants to impeach him.

CNN reported that the Pentagon’s announcement late Friday that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had been in the hospital since New Year’s Day shocked both the Pentagon press corps and the national security establishment. CNN also reported that for days senior members of the Biden administration — including President Joe Biden — did not know that the defense secretary was in the hospital. (Source)

So now there are going to be investigations as to why key people were not informed about his hospitalization. Montana’s very own Rep. Matt Rosendale told Fox News that he is introducing articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin over a variety of things, but I think it is probably because Austin works for a Democrat. Rosendale issued a press release about his plans. You can read it HERE.

CHINESE SPY BALLOON:

This may be old news to some, but I wanted to comment about it.

The Chinese Spy balloon that flew across parts of Montana is still in the news because Republicans won’t let it go.

Just recently, I saw a press release about it from U.S. Representative Matt Rosendale:

Following recent reports that the Biden Administration lied to Congress and the American people regarding the Chinese spy balloon that flew across Montana skies in February, including Malmstrom Air Force Base, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) is calling for the Biden Administration to hold a townhall for Montanans to demand answers and transparency.

Also, U.S. Senator Steve Daines chimed in about the balloon:

U.S. Senator Steve Daines issued the following statement today in response to an NBC report that the Chinese spy balloon used an American internet service provider to communicate:
“This is outrageous. First the Biden Administration let the Chinese spy balloon float over America unabated hoping the American people wouldn’t notice and now we find out it used American communications infrastructure as a basis for its operational capabilities. The Chinese Communist Party must love the Biden administration’s feckless approach to foreign policy.
“It is far past time the administration leveled with the American people about what and how much American-made equipment and services China used to spy on our country.

Am I worried about the Chinese spy balloon spying on me? Nope. I do hope the Chinese fly another balloon across our country and have it land in Montana. We could put Rosendale and Daines in the balloon, relaunch it, and they can investigate further.

MICHIGAN WOLVERINES:

The Michigan Wolverines completed an undefeated season with a 34-13 College Football Playoff championship game victory over the Washington Huskies.

The Wolverines scored two touchdowns in the first quarter and two in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. The Wolverines finished 15-0, which has only been done a few times in college football.

This was the final college football game of the season.
