The Monday Memo

Hello, friends! Here are the topics for today’s commentary:

  • Rocky Mountain Labs
  • MT4Palestine
  • 2023 FCS Playoffs
  • One More Thing

ROCKY MOUNTAIN LABS:

On his Facebook page, U.S. Representative Matt Rosendale (R-MT/02) stated:

The evidence is clear, Fauci expanded Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Hamilton, MT, and spent millions to infect bats with a coronavirus obtained directly from the Wuhan Lab one year before the COVID-19 outbreak.
I was proud my amendment to the LHHS Appropriations bill passed to prohibit taxpayer dollars from funding any dangerous gain-of-function research at Rocky Mountain Laboratories.

Around 500 people work at the lab.

The Missoulian reported that Rosendale’s move comes following a series of unfounded claims by Rosendale regarding the Hamilton labs on social media.

The following was also reported in the Missoulian:

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) disputes Rosendale’s claims that the Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML) in Hamilton, a division of the National Institutes of Health, experimented on the virus that causes COVID-19 prior to the pandemic, citing evidence that shows research on coronaviruses has been safely conducted in the U.S. for decades. The agency also denied claims that the virus it experimented on came from China in a statement released to the Ravalli Republic.

It’s really an embarrassment how Rosendale and many MAGA folks fall for fake news posted on social media. It would really be a sad day if Rosendale succeeds in stripping funding from the Rocky Mountain Labs. The research they do has been supported by the Montana congressional delegation, both Republicans and Democrats, for years.

MT4PALESTINE:

The Montana Kaimin reported this weekend that when the fog parted above the Washington-Grizzly Stadium this afternoon [Saturday] a crowd was able to see Mount Sentinel’s “M” with colors draped over the letter to form a massive Palestinian flag.

The Kaimin also reported that although the exact people who did it are unconfirmed, an Instagram page called “MT4Palestine” took credit for the act. It claims 15 people helped unroll 9000 square feet of butcher paper from the top of the M around noon today, [Saturday] aiming to reveal it at the kickoff of the Brawl of the Wild. The plan took around two weeks to come to fruition, the page said in a direct message to the Kaimin. “We took this action to send a message to our politicians, especially Jon Tester and Steve Daines, that we hold them accountable for the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people,” the page said in a message to the Kaimin.

You can read the full report from the Montana Kaimin HERE. Check out the MT4Palestine page HERE.

2023 FCS PLAYOFFS:

The 2023 FCS playoff bracket is set with Montana getting the #2 seed and Montana State getting the #6 seed. Both teams earn a bye in the first round and will play on December 2. The Griz and Cats could meet in the semifinals on December 15/16.

Check out the bracket HERE.

ONE MORE THING:

I saw the following post on X from Ryan Busse, who is a candidate for Montana Governor. It made me laugh:

As if I needed proof that MT is being changed for the worse, Today I saw college kids shotgunning WhiteClaws before Cat Griz.
Good God. We must rise up and must stop this madness.

    • So, you approve of the premeditated slaughter of American troops as long as it’s done in ‘67 and is part of a plan for the supposed greater good of the region? Wow. That’s big of you Bill, especially since you’ve never served or sacrificed in the military. For you, freedom really IS free!

You must have been ecstatic when you heard of the bombing in Lebanon in ‘83 when Hezbollah bombed the Marine barracks and killed 240 American Marines and soldiers! After all, it was ‘83. Like the Zionists, it was done by a group fighting for their country, for the greater good.

But now I’m curious. At what point in the past do you get offended by the slaughter American troops?

But another part of problem with your argument is that those same terrorists who approved the slaughter of our sailors went on to become the first representatives of their government. And they turned their terror tactics on the Palestinians. They never stopped using terror as a tactic, which continues until today. And anyone with a modicum of humanity and decency is outraged by the injustice of what is happening.

The entire world is outraged and wants it to stop. Why aren’t youZ.

  1. Well, we bombed the hell out of our allies the Filipinos in Manila. We did that to avoid American casualties rooting the the Japanese out. Sounds like Israel’s plan with Hamas. We considered the Philippines our colony. Maybe killed a hundred thousand?

  2. Trouble is brewing with the election department again.  The election canvass was scheduled for today (Monday) at 3:30.  Since the 48 hour notice of the meeting was not met, Larsen and Briggs refused to attend on the grounds that it was an illegal meeting.  So it got rescheduled to Wednesday at 3:30, which will also be illegal because it goes beyond the two-week limitation.  Not sure what that means.

  3. I wonder how Daines and Tester became responsible for what’s going on over there? But good for the protesters, gets them out in the fresh air. I noticed the word genocide gets thrown around a lot anymore.

    • Genocide and terrorist. Everyone is a terrorist and/or everyone is trying to carry out a genocide. Neither word has special meaning anymore.

      • Not true. Genocide is exactly what is being done in Gaza. And the entire world knows it. And the US is complicit. It’s a seventy year Genocide. A slow motion Genocide, but Genocide no less. I challenge all the genocide deniers to point out a time in history where the entire world was so outraged as it is now. A cursory look at the world news shows protests on an unprecedented scale. No going back to the status quo. The zionists have been outed. They either compromise or perish. And that’s a good thing. Even the Israelis who aren’t Nazis realize this. And we need to pull the plug on their four billion a year that we give the zionists to conduct their genocide. We need that money here. And no more proxy wars for zionists.

And remember the Liberty. Allies don’t sink American naval vessels and attempt to slaughter the entire crew! Only isreal. Or if you Genocide deniers can think of another example, list it!

      • For the younger folks who don’t know this history. I could have been on that ship, for I tried to get into the Navy to avoid the draft. But they had a nine month waiting list. So I enlisted in the first branch that would take me. The Air Force. I ended up going to Nam anyway as a dog handler, but it was still much safer than being a grunt in the Army. I have no love lost for a country that slaughtered my fellow troops.

      • I would think that if the Israelis were trying to carry out an actual textbook definition genocide, they would be indiscriminately and intentionally killing everyone they came across. But they’re not.

The USA and its allies killed a lot of German civilians in WWII with the carpet bombing and firebombings but that was not termed genocide, just the ugliness of war.

Do the Israelis wish the Palestians would just go away? Probably. Is the open air prison of Gaza a crime against humanity? Probably. Are the thefts of land and murders in the west bank crimes? No doubt. Are there individual Israelis (and certain wingnut Americans) who subscribe to “the only good Palestinian etc”? No doubt.

But genocide, a systematic effort by the Israeli government to wipe out some racial or cultural group, as the word is defined? Do not agree. Unless the political entity Hamas counts.

    • Someone said, “It’s not genocide. If is was, all the residents of Gaza would already be dead.”
