Caught My Eye…

Happy Friday, friends! Today is Friday, September 29, 2023, and here are the topics that caught my eye:

  • Government Shutdown
  • Jon Tester Merch
  • Trump & Milley
  • Heads-Up
  • Winning!

GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN:

As I write this post we are about two days away from the Federal Government shutting down because they don’t have a budget agreement. This could also be the last few days of Kevin McCarthy being the Speaker of the House. The Washington Post is reporting this morning that a contingent of far-right House Republicans are plotting an attempt to remove Kevin McCarthy as House speaker as early as next week,

It seems that McCarthy sold his soul to be the Speaker and now he is paying for it.

Here in Montana, MTN News caught up with all four members of Montana’s congressional delegation and found that they are divided (surprise) on the best way to move forward. We have our own little “far-right” House Republican in Matt Rosendale.

Check out the MTN story HERE.

JON TESTER MERCH:

Everyone should head over to the campaign website of U.S. Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) and check out what he has for sale in his campaign store.

The item that caught my attention was the “Jon Tester Foam Finger” which you can get in orange or navy. I am not sure if this was ever offered in his other campaigns. The “foam finger” is actually a finger and thumb because as a kid Tester lost three fingers grinding meat in the family butcher shop.

Another item is the campaign buttons. I have a few old campaign buttons that I received from my parents that are probably valuable to some folks. It’s always great to collect these if you are a campaign junkie.

TRUMP & MILLEY:

Last Friday, former President Donald Trump attacked retiring Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair General Mark Milley on Truth Social saying:

Mark Milley, who led perhaps the most embarrassing moment in American history with his grossly incompetent implementation of the withdrawal from Afghanistan, costing many lives, leaving behind hundreds of American citizens, and handing over BILLIONS of dollars of the finest military equipment ever made, will be leaving the military next week. This will be a time for all citizens of the USA to celebrate! This guy turned out to be a Woke train wreck who, if the Fake News reporting is correct, was actually dealing with China to give them a heads up on the thinking of the President of the United States. This is an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH! A war between China and the United States could have been the result of this treasonous act.

Milley said he’s taking steps to ensure his own safety and that of his family after former President Trump accused him of treason in an online post. (Source)

When will enough be enough for the supporters of Trump? People should be ashamed of what Trump said. We already know his followers are gullible enough to try to overthrow the government, so it’s not a stretch to think they would try to take out a General.

General Milley will appear in an upcoming episode of 60 Minutes.

HEADS-UP:

This Sunday the NFL starts early with a game at Wembley Stadium in London. It’s Atlanta vs. Jacksonville. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and starts at 7:30 a.m. Mountain Time.

WINNING!

I was informed by DirecTV that they are adding another channel to my Sports Package in October. The channel is called Willow TV and it is 24/7 top-tier cricket matches from around the world in High Definition.

Is this a great country or what?

  1. Even ‘Stinky’ Zinke is chiding ‘Matt the Rat’ Rosendale in the Chaos Caucus for blocking the rest of the extremists from even shoveling out their garbage efforts to satisfy their greed, spite, and bigotry. It’s pretty bad when the worst of the worst are competing among themselves for who can be the nastiest.

  2. “Nope” Rosendale threw his viral hissy fit on the House floor during the Speaker votes in January, claiming the Speaker position had too much power and prevented individual members from considering and voting on bills.

But just as soon as Matt and his snapping and snarling little pack.of fellow running dog radicals could threaten McCarthy’s position to keep him from bringing the adults’ CR from the Senate to the House floor, Matt was more than happy to use his own little power to prevent all 435 members of the House representing the entire country from.considering and voting on a bill.

Matt “Nope” Rosendale: A man of principle. Not for everyone though, just Matt.

(Note: In my my mind the snapping and snarling little pack of running dogs is all ankle biter types of dogs, those annoying little “Yip yip yip!” sort of things.)
