Hello, friends! Today is Tuesday, August 29, 2023, and here are the topics that I am providing independent commentary about today:

  • Cascade County Democrats
  • Great Falls Mayoral Candidates

CASCADE COUNTY DEMOCRATS:

In case you missed it, Lee Newspapers did a story about Democrats in Cascade County looking to retake lost grounds in the upcoming 2024 election.

Currently, the Democrats of Cascade County might as well be on the endangered species list. It’s that bad for them. I remember when it was difficult for Republicans to win in the county, but not anymore.

What I think they need to do is encourage some Democrats who have name recognition to run, and moderate Democrats should be recruited. They need to stay away from the far-left issues because the Republicans will use that to paint them all as extremists. On the other hand, Democrats have plenty of material to use against the Republicans to paint many of them as extremists and out of touch with the regular people in the county.

GREAT FALLS MAYORAL CANDIDATES:

The local MAGA blog, E-City Beat (ECB), posted a story about what they think the political affiliation is of the non-partisan candidates for Mayor in Great Falls. The story was written by “ECB Staff” and is based on campaign finance reports.

ECB contends that City Commission candidates will be featured in the next installment. One of those commission candidates, Rick Tryon, is a frequent contributor to the ECB, so it will be interesting to see how the ECB handles that.

Make no mistake about it, this is a way for the ECB to help Republicans get elected locally. I’m sure there will be a hit piece on some candidates who are not Republican (or not Republican enough) before the November municipal election.

BIDEN OLD/TRUMP CORRUPT:

The Associated Press (AP) is reporting that a new poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, found respondents saying that President Joe Biden is “old” and “confused,” and former President Donald Trump is “corrupt” and “dishonest.” Those are among the top terms Americans use when they’re asked to describe the Democrat in the White House and the Republican best positioned to face him in next year’s election.

Biden is 80 years old, and Trump is 77 years old. Both are too old to be President, in my opinion.

Nonetheless, if Biden and Trump face off in 2024, Biden will win, again.

As I have said often, the greatest accomplishment for Joe Biden is that he beat Donald Trump.

  1. Election denier Douglas Frank will be heading up a meeting at MSU-GF this evening, starting at 6 p.m. Gonna hold my nose and go see just exactly what garbage is being fed to the electorate.

  2. I think I read here the question of whether or not Tryon thought Trump lost the election. I read an article he wrote in ECB where he did and encouraged Trump to be a good sport about it. You see how that worked out. I also read a article about Bidens’ alleged sexual assault of Tara Reid. She recently defected to Russia, how cool is that?

    • So, Tryon admits Trump lost the election. That’s good.

      But still thinks none of what Trump did at the national or Georgia level in a desperate attempt to overturn that same election and hang onto power (not to mention absconding with Top Secret materials and obstructing efforts to get them back, or scamming the state of NY for real estate taxes) rises to the level of prosecutable crime. Not so good.

  3. I notice that ECB made sure to emphasize that Casey Schreiner lost some attempts at office after his four terms as legislator. Same as they never fail to mention local activist Jasmine Taylor’s losing run for office. Because these things are ultra-impirtamt for voters to know.

    Wonder if they will also dutifully mention Tryon’s several failed attempts to get himself on the public payroll before he finally ran into an election he could win. IIRC there was one maybe two attempts at legislature and one run for city commission he flunked. Should we make book on ECB being that “fair and balanced”?

    • That’s very true – ECB does that often! I doubt the writer “ECB Staff” will list anything negative about Tryon.
      As for “Fair and Balanced” I won’t hold my breath.

      • I think Abraham Lincoln lost 6 elections before winning one. I even lost my first election.
