U.S. SENATE MONTANA 2024:

It’s now official, and I got a kick out of the jockeying already happening in the U.S. Senate race in Montana.

Tim Sheehy announced that he is running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

If you’re on Twitter, search for the posts with the #MTPol and #MTSen hashtags. You’ll be amused. The primary is in June 2024 and the General Election is in November 2024 – so let’s all just calm down some.

If Sheehy is the nominee, he will face three-term Democratic U.S. Senator Jon Tester in November 2024.

I enjoyed sitting back and watching the very well-done announcement, the launching of the website, and the accolades from his supporters. For some reason, Sheehy has two Twitter accounts: @TimForMontana and @SheehyforMT.

The Democrats and Republican U.S. Representative Matt Rosendale came out in full force against Sheehy.

Rosendale stopped chasing balloons across eastern Montana and tweeted:

Congratulations to Mitch McConnell and the party bosses on getting their chosen candidate.

Now Washington has two candidates – Tim Sheehy and Jon Tester – who will protect the DC cartel.

He then added:

Unfortunately for them, Montanans don’t take orders from Washington.

I believe that Montanans are tired of business as usual and will reject the McConnell-Biden Establishment.

This might be an opportunity for Montana Republicans to cast away the MAGA nutjobs and elect someone not so MAGA, but Sheehy may have a large hill to climb to beat Rosendale if Rosendale runs. A recent poll from Public Policy Polling showed Rosendale leading Sheehy 64%-10%. By the way, Tester beat Rosendale 50.3% to 46.8% in 2018.

I guess the big question is who will Donald Trump endorse. Another big question for Sheehy is, “Did you vote for Trump once or twice?”

The Montana Democrats went after Sheehy saying he was recruited by Mitch McConnell and DC lobbyists. The best line was from Monica Robinson, who is listed as Senior Communications Advisor for the Montana Democrats. She tweeted:

Good morning. Jon Tester has farm equipment that’s been in Montana longer than Tim Sheehy.

It has been reported that Sheehy moved to Montana in 2014 and that he was born in Minnesota. He follows several Republicans who were born out of state like: Greg Gianforte (CA), Steve Daines (CA), Matt Rosendale (MD), and Troy Downing (CA). It seems this is a common theme.

You can visit Sheehy’s website HERE. You can visit Tester’s website HERE.

U.S. SUPREME COURT:

Head’s up – there have already been some decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court, and it appears that more will be coming out on Thursday.

SCOTUSblog is where I check for the latest information. Visit their website HERE.

FREE BEER?

I knew that “Free Beer” would get your attention! I am always looking out for my faithful readers…

USA Today and others are reporting that as the Fourth of July weekend rolls in, Bud Light is offering a rebate of up to $15 on purchases of a 15-pack of Budweiser, Bud Light, Budweiser Select or Budweiser Select 55. And in places where a 15-packs sells for less than $15, the beer could be practically free.

I saw the following a while back and was amazed at which beer is the “best-selling beer in America.”

The promotion comes as Bud Light battles with a conservative boycott and plummeting sales following its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Modelo Especial dethroned Bud Light as the best-selling beer in America earlier this month.

IMHO there are too many brands of beer.

  1. By making a Mexican beer #1 in the USA, the MAGAs have advanced “The Great Replacement” 🙂 Nice work MAGAs. This from the same bunch who used to worry about French fries.

Rosendale vs Daines [and handpicked boy] – Ya gotta love our Montana Republicans locked up in a catfight. Though Rosey tried to pin the blame for Sheehy on McConnell, we all know who really did it, Matt. Even your own party and your state’s R senator can’t stand you.

So it’ll be a carpetbagger from Minnesota vs a carpetbagger from Maryland vying to run against the born and bred Montanan from a homesteader family, Tester. The state’s Republican electorate has zero pride voting for all these carpetbaggers, including the legislature. It won’t be Montana anymore when they are done but some craphole version of Mississippi.

    • The Trib story on Sheehy illustrates some important differences between him and Rosendale:

“What I’m seeing now is kind of a government devoid of common sense,” he said Tuesday. “It’s a lot of rhetoric, a lot of demagoguery, but not a lot of people sitting down actually trying to solve the serious problems we face as a country.”

      – devoid of common sense: Rosendale, check
      – a lot of rhetoric: Rosendale, check
      – a lot of demagoguery: Rosendale, check
      – not … sitting down actually trying to solve the serious problems we face as a country: Rosendale, check

      He’s got Matt nailed.

Plus has military service, unlike Matt. Plus is not a scary-looking bogeyman nightmare from a horror movie, like Matt.
