Tuesday’s Quick Hits

Here are the topics for Tuesday:

  • Rosendale’s Balloon
  • Power Couple
  • Trump’s Audio Recording
  • Men’s College World Series

ROSENDALE’S BALLOON:

Republican U.S. Representative Matt Rosendale (MT-02) contacted the Department of Defense (DoD) about a balloon flying over eastern Montana Sunday night. Reports say the balloon was flying at 57,000 feet.

Fox News is reporting that Rosendale immediately contacted the Department of Defense and was told the agency was aware of the incident and choose not to investigate because of the size of the balloon and the “low probability” that it was conducting any surveillance, he said.

Then, of course, Rosendale blamed the Biden Administration. According to Fox News Rosendale said:

“If the spy balloon in February taught us anything, it’s that Montanans are vigilant and want to know what is flying over our state and will expose the Biden Administration for not protecting us,” Rosendale said in a statement.

Toward the end of the article from Fox News, we find out why there was no response:

Fox News Digital has reached out to the DOD and the Northern Command. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on Monday said it was aware of the incident.
“The object is a privately-owned civilian balloon registered with the #FAA and operating within FAA regulations and requirements,” the agency tweeted. “Be assured, when an object is suspicious or unknown, NORAD responds.”

After the NORAD response, Rosendale tweeted, “Do we really believe this is not another attempt by the Chinese to gather intelligence?”

After Tweeting about it and causing a stir, Twitter added “critical context” to straighten out the situation:

Missing critical context.

This is a Thunderhead balloon system owned by Aerostar – an American company.

It’s registered with the FAA, & not a foreign or unknown craft. (N930TH) registry.faa.gov/AircraftInquir…

Foreign spy balloons and unknown objects don’t broadcast their current location using ADS-B.

Rosendale gets points for getting his name on Fox News, but he loses points for making something out of nothing.

POWER COUPLE:

The actions of the Republicans in the Montana Legislature toward State Representative Zooey Zephyr have backfired.

In case you missed it, the Associated Press reported it like this:

Zephyr, a Democrat, surged into the spotlight this spring when she was silenced by her Republican colleagues in the Montana Legislature after she refused to apologize for saying some lawmakers would have blood on their hands for supporting a ban on gender-affirming health care for trans youths.

Now the AP is running a story entitled, “Power couple Zooey Zephyr and Erin Reed are spreading hope to fellow transgender people.”

Check it out HERE.

TRUMP’S AUDIO RECORDING:

There’s an audio recording that was released yesterday to the media that came from a meeting in which former President Donald Trump discusses a “highly confidential” document with an interviewer. The Associate Press said it appears to undermine his later claim that he didn’t have such documents, only magazine and newspaper clippings.

I would think this is highly damning evidence, but we never know with Trump.

Read the AP report HERE.

MEN’S COLLEGE WORLD SERIES:

This was one of the stranger Men’s College World Series I have witnessed. The finals pitted Florida vs LSU in a best-of-three final.

Before LSU made the finals, they had to beat #1 seed Wake Forest, and that may have been one the best college baseball games ever played. There were eight hits in the whole game. Finally, in the 11th inning, LSU won it on a walk-off home run.

The first game between LSU and Florida was a nail-biter with LSU winning that game in extra innings 4-3.

In the second game, Florida beat the stuffing out of LSU 24-4,

In the third and final game, LSU came back to beat Florida, 18-4.

LSU is the Men’s College World Series Champions.

  1. Just breaking on of course Fox Digital Bozeman businessman, former Navy Seal Tim Sheehy will challenge Tester on Republican ticket for Senate . He is the pick of Senator Daines. He is another multi millionaire and Trump MEGA supporter. Now will be interesting to see what crazy Rep. Rosendale does.

  2. If Rosendale really did go on about Chinese spying after being informed by NORAD that was a registered civilian balloon, either:
    a) He is truly an idiot, or
    b) He has zero respect for the intelligence of his QAnon-loving Twitter followers and is simply raking muck to spin them all into an angry tizzy.

Does this guy ever do any real work for that salary we pay him? He’s the useless male equivalent of the equally useless Lauren Boebert, accomplishing nothing of actual note while keeping himself in the clown car spotlight with irrational nonsense.

Who ever knew balloons flew over Montana? Thanks for that revelation, Matt.

    • I pick idiot!
Rosendale retweeted the NORAD tweet and then added: “Do we really believe this is not another attempt by the Chinese to gather intelligence?”

      • Radical Republicans like Rosendale and his far right fellow running dogs seem to be doing everything they can to destroy all faith in government at all levels, now including even the military in the form of NORAD. Shame on Rosendale. Not only do they NOT back the blue, and take the side of traitorous insurrectionists, now they are hating on our troops.

All the while pretending that they themselves are somehow not part of the same government(s) they are trying to tear down.

  3. Thanks for sharing that wonderful article about Zoey and Erin. Inspiring young women!
