Caught My Eye…

Quote for the Day…

Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. – Jim Rohn

Caught My Eye (CME) is the once-a-week column that is posted every Friday morning. This is when I look at some of the stories I did not have time to write about during the week.

Here are some of the things that “Caught My Eye” this week:

  • GF Public School Board Election
  • Daines Fights “Disturbing” Content
  • Election Integrity
  • Ron Johnson
  • The Souvenir
  • One More Thing

GF PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION:

The “conservative candidates” went one out of the four in the election to the local school board in Great Falls. Paige Turoski was the conservative candidate who finished third and was elected to one of the three seats up for grabs. Meanwhile, two incumbents, Mark Finnicum and Gordon Johnson won reelection. All the above will serve three years.

Amie Thompson ended up winning the one-year seat by quite a margin. She should easily cruise to reelection for a full-term next year.

Overall, I was pleased with the results, although the drive-by hit piece by the conservatives probably cost Russell Herring a win. It was cheap.

The conservatives are awfully quiet after only winning one seat.

It is sad that even these offices that pay nothing and are very important to the community have become so partisan.

DAINES FIGHTS “DISTURBING” CONTENT:

The New York Post is reporting that a group of Republican senators want a new TV rating created so parents can block their children from watching shows with LGBTQ characters.

Just a reminder that this is 2022.

One of those Senators is Steve Daines of Montana.

Maybe a new rating will help children find the programs easier and help them to have an open mind about their fellow humans. That’s something that Daines and friends don’t seem to have.

ELECTION INTEGRITY:

I know I wrote about this before, but The Electric has a great in-depth article that is worth reading about a group of tinfoil hat people in Great Falls who are worried about election integrity.

One key thing the article pointed out was this:

Jeff Mangan, Montana Commissioner of Political Practices, told The Electric that since he was appointed to the position in 2017, there have been seven voter fraud complaints statewide. One was referred back to the local government for adjudication and one is currently in court in Phillips County. The others were unsubstantiated, he said.
Mangan said there hasn’t been a single formal or informal complaint related to voter or election fraud from Cascade County in his time as COPP.

RON JOHNSON:

The Wisconsin Examiner is reporting that U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) said it “may be true” that vaccines against COVID-19 cause AIDS. Johnson said this during a video interview published on the right-wing social media platform Rumble.

Beam me up, Scotty.

THE SOUVENIR:

The Associated Press reported that a bomb scare set off scenes of panic at Israel’s airport after an American family showed up with an unexploded artillery shell they had found in the Golan Heights and intended to bring back as a souvenir. (AP)

These people are like the tourists who want to pet a bison in Yellowstone.

ONE MORE THING:

I was going to write about U.S. Representative Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) this week, but there’s not enough space to cover everything.

  1. Shocked, shocked I say, that Steve Daines would turn out to be a homophobe.

Not to mention a conservative proponent of nanny state philosophy..
