TWW – The Teenage Years Are Upon Us

I wasn’t born here, but I blog here. –Jackie M. Brown (GF Tribune 3-3-14)

Today The Western Word (TWW) turns 13 years old!

Please, no parades. It’s too cold.

TWW blog started on January 10, 2005. It was a Monday. The first post went up about 10:04 p.m.

Ironically, the first line had the following information that seems to be the norm for Kansas City Chiefs fans:

Ah yes, since my Chiefs are done and there’s no Monday Night Football, I will pick the winners of the weekend games:

Hitting the magic 13 means that The Western Word is starting the dreaded teenage years. We all know how teenagers can be, so be prepared.

As for stats, here are a few:

There have been 3,373 posts. That means I have averaged about 260 columns per year over those 13 years.

My most viewed column of all time is “Politics 2012: 10 Most Vulnerable Senators” which also made it into the mainstream media.

Of course, a lot of people want to know who in the heck is Jackie M. (Mike) Brown or Jack the Blogger or Mike Brown. They clicked HERE to find out the juicy details of my life.

Another column that received a lot of attention was this one from 2008, “The Killing at Poplar River.” It dealt with Barry Beach.

My plans are still the same. I will continue to call out the nutjobs from both sides of the political aisle. I will also continue writing commentary about what gets my attention. I will continue to call out the state of Montana for not being tough enough on drunk driving.

I am an independent so if you’re looking for a left or right wing angle, this site is not for you. If you want to know what independents think, and you do, this site is for you.

After serving the military for almost a dozen years and working for a U.S. Senator for another dozen years, writing a column six days a week is a piece of cake.

Thanks to the more than 300 subscribers and those who read the TWW every day. Thanks to those who comment. Thanks to those who email me. Thanks to my wonderful wife who encourages me and tells me not to swear in my columns.

  2. Congrats on your Bar internetvah! 3 more years and you can start dating other sites. Keep up the great work!

Separately, I heard an ad from America’s PAC 527 for Matt Rosendale a couple of time this morning on 103.9 in Kalispell. It’s a really low quality ad. Voiceover, a twangy line from Matt on the stump, voiceover, twangy line, voiceover and disclaimer. It’s difficult to make out what Matt is saying.

    • Doug – Thank you. I had overlooked the dating part. I am also looking forward to driving! Thanks for the tip. They start earlier and earlier each year. -JmB
