Terrific News Tuesday

It’s time for another edition of Terrific News Tuesday (TNT) because everyone needs a little good news once in awhile.

There’s no griping or complaining today – just some terrific news that caught my attention!

Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:

  • The Rain & Montana
  • Pedro Martinez & Great Falls
  • NFL Training Camps
  • Jamaal Charles & Special Olympics
  • Four-Star General
  • Dr. Seuss

The Rain and Montana:

It was great to see cooler temperatures and slow steady rain falling across Montana on Monday. There was even some snow in the higher elevations. This moisture will help control the forest fires!

By the way, if you are thinking about heading to Glacier National Park – GO! The majority of the Park is still unaffected by wildfire – so don’t change your plans! Click HERE for updates.

Pedro Martinez and Great Falls:

Pitcher Pedro Martinez was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this week. In 1990 he played for the Great Falls Dodgers. The Great Falls Dodgers (now the Voyagers) are members of the Pioneer Baseball League which is a league for players beginning their professional careers.

During his speech at the Hall of Fame ceremony he acknowledged his host family in Great Falls, John and Shelley Haffner. (Source)

It’s great to see a professional athlete remember those who helped him along the way.

NFL Training Camps:

The good news is that most NFL training camps start this week and that means the NFL season is not too far off! You can find out when your favorite team’s camp starts and the location of their camp by clicking HERE.

Life is just a little better during football season.

KC Chiefs’ Running Back Jamaal Charles:

Charles suffered from a learning disability as a child and competed in the Special Olympics. Now he is one the best running backs in the NFL- an All-Pro selection! (Source)

He shared his story during the opening ceremonies of Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles this week and led the participants in the Special Olympics athlete oath.

Four-Star General:

It’s good to see the U.S. Air Force has finally placed a four-star general in charge of the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC). The AFGSC is the command responsible for the 341st Missile Wing at Malmstrom AFB, Montana.

General Robin Rand takes over today. According to the Associated Press, he never served in the nuclear forces.

“What Pet Should I Get?”

The good news is there’s a new book from Dr. Seuss being released today called, “What Pet Should I Get?”

According to People.com, the manuscript for the book was discovered in October 2013 by the author’s widow, Audrey Geisel, among a box of abandoned doodles. (Source)
