The Sunday Message

“The storm comes from the south, and the cold from the north.” – Job 37:9 (NLV)

This past week in Great Falls, Montana, I have experienced some of the coldest temperatures in my life. This morning I checked the temperature and it was minus 31. That was not counting wind chill. Things are looking up; we should be above zero on Sunday and be a balmy 38 degrees on Thursday.

With the weather being so cold, it helps remind me to thank God for the little things: A warm home, a working furnace, pipes not freezing, and vehicles that will start.

Maybe winter bothers me more because I am older and wiser. When I was younger, I did not care about the snow or the cold – it would not stop me from living! One time a friend and I decided to go bust some snow drifts in his car. It was fun until we found ourselves stuck in a snow drift and had to walk two miles. I had on tennis shoes and a light jacket. My feet were never the same again, but I learned a valuable lesson.

“Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.” -Victor Hugo

Have a great week – and stay warm!
