Sequestration Week!

Just as we have “Sweeps Week” or “Super Bowl Week” we are now in “Sequestration Week” and it’s exciting. OK, not really, but people are talking about it!

Senators and Representatives head back to Washington, D.C., this week after a 10 day vacation (Did you miss them?).  They have the sequestration deadline of March 1 (Friday) facing them.

The Sunday talk shows showed us that the “blame game” was in full effect with plenty of posturing. I wonder which cable news station will have a “Countdown to Sequestration” clock on their screen first.

If sequestration follows the same course that other big issues facing Congress followed, then they will probably go right by the deadline and come up with a plan for later or find some way to delay it.

Some people are saying that that Congress and the President should just let the cuts take place.

The Great Falls (MT) Tribune published a story on Sunday titled, “Sequester looms: Montana may face painful losses if sequestration goes into effect” which did a pretty good job in looking at possible cuts, plus they provided local reaction to the possible cuts.

The White House released details on how the sequestration will affect states. The Associated Press has the Montana details HERE.

The Western Word is polling on the sequestration debate. Here’s the poll:

  1. Jack,

It appears that you have a very pro liberal following by the results of your poll. My question to those who took the poll; Did not the President recommend to Congress that a the sequestor become a reality and did not both Republicans and Democrats vote for the bill and lastly, did not the President sign it into law? So how can 60% of those taking the poll blame Republicans. Even Max Baucus said it was Obama’s idea, isn’t he a Democrat?
