Faithful readers – we’ve almost got another week out of the way. Congrats! Hopefully you can take a few minutes to read my Thursday column called “Thursday Numbers.”
Thursday Numbers is where I take a look at the numbers in the news and sometimes offer a little commentary with them.
This week I take a look at fundraising, a large salary, acres, stadium capacities, followers on Twitter, some birthdays, sacks, and something a-Maze-ing.
So to do your part of “stickin’ it to the man” today go ahead and click on this link>
70,000,000
President Barack Obama raised $70 million in the third quarter for his reelection.
That is a lot of money for someone with low approval ratings…imagine if they liked the job he was doing…
62,855,038
That’s how much money ($62.8 million) that Warren Buffett made last year.
I checked my bank account and sadly I don’t come close to Warren’s salary…
2,200,000
That’s how many acres (2.2 million) of land that John Malone, the 70-year-old chairman of Liberty Media, owns in the United States. He recently took over the title of largest private landowner from Ted Turner.
It’s all probably posted “No Hunting” too…
404,000
That’s how many NEW claims for unemployment were filed last week.
Although this only gets a little attention in the media, these are real people who lost their jobs…
48,911
That’s the capacity of the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, home of the Rangers, which is one of the four teams left in the MLB playoffs.
This is a pretty ballpark…
46,700
That’s the capacity of Busch Stadium in St. Louis, home of the Cardinals, which is one of the four teams left in the MLB playoffs.
Here we go Cardinals…
41,900
That’s the capacity of Miller Park in Milwaukee, home of the Brewers, which is one of the four teams left in the MLB playoffs.
Miller…as in beer? Yes – Miller Brewing Company paid $40 million to name it Miller Park until 2020.
40,120
That’s the capacity of Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers, which is one of the four teams left in the MLB playoffs.
Comerica is a financial services company in case you were wondering. In 1998, they paid about $66 million for the naming rights of the baseball park for 30 years.
1956
That’s the year that the Detroit Lions posted their last 5-0 start.
I think they are for real…but the Green Bay Packers may stand in their way.
1212
That’s how many miles (driving) it is between Comerica Park (Detroit) and the Rangers Ballpark (Arlington, TX) for the final two American League teams.
Road trip…

Help me catch the Tribune and the Montana GOP – follow me – I am much more fun than them on Twitter!

I saw Hagar with Van Halen in 1986 during the 5150 tour. Amazing (from what I remember).

Montana Congressman Denny Rehberg is a co-sponsor. A related bill in the Senate (S. 1501) has nine co-sponsors. Neither Montana Senator is a co-sponsor.
They should be open to the public…

That is how many “false start” penalties the Chicago Bears were called for on Monday night in Detroit.
One must remember that Detroit plays inside where it is warm and cuddly. Real football is played outside and on real grass…
4
That’s the number of people (mother, father, two children) who got lost in a corn maze in Massachusetts. They called 911 for help. They were found 25 feet from a road.
Maybe they should have taken a flare gun with them…
