I was kind of amazed this morning when I heard that President Obama was going to hold a briefing about his birth certificate. I was amazed because we have so many more important issues like the debt, gas prices, and unemployment that we should be dealing with. We had also just heard that CIA Director Leon Panetta would be the next Secretary of Defense and Gen. David Petraeus would move into the CIA chief’s job.
Instead of important issues we had briefing about a birth certificate. There was the President about 9:45 a.m. (eastern time) on television – even some of the networks broke in on their regular programming to cover it. Thankfully the Cartoon Network stayed with its regular programming!
The Obama team even posted a copy of his “Long Form Birth Certificate” on the White House blog, which you can view HERE.
Obama called the issue surrounding his birth certificate, “silliness.” I agree.
It did not take long for Donald (I like attention and ratings) Trump, who was on his way to New Hampshire, to take credit for it. As soon as Trump landed in Portsmouth, he held a press conference (before Obama spoke). Trump said he was “Really proud, really honored” about his role in the release. “I feel like I accomplished something really, really important” he added, “But I have to look at it first. I hope it is true.”
Now we can move on…but not really because there are always going to be people who won’t believe that Obama was born in the USA. Now Trump wants Obama to release his college records.
In June 2008, I posted information about Obama being born in the USA. In 2009, I wrote “He was born in Hawaii (after it was a state). There was a birth announcement in a Honolulu paper 47 years ago, too. That horse is dead, so stop beating it.”
All the “news” this morning shows me and most Americans that the real issues just don’t matter that much to those in charge.
