This has really been a boring week in the world of blogging. If not for the skirmishes between Congressman Denny Rehberg and Senator Jon Tester, and talk about the Federal Government running out of money, this week would be a yawner.
So what is better to jumpstart the week than talk about healthcare?? Yes, I think it’s a boring subject, too, but please read on…
A story appeared Tuesday in Lee Newspapers about Benefis Hospital in Great Falls that seems to have been disregarded by the Great Falls media. It seems not everyone thinks the hospital in Great Falls, named Benefis, is the greatest thing since sliced bread…
According to Eric Schindler, CEO of the Montana School Services Foundation, Benefis “has increased its prices more than 30 percent the past three years, both through direct price increases and reducing the discount it gives as a “network” provider for insurance customers.”
Here is what an official from Benefis said: “Benefis charges far less for care than our peers here in Montana and we have low costs and charges when compared with other parts of the state,” said John Goodnow, the president and CEO of Benefis.
Those were just a couple of quotes and you can read the whole story HERE.
It seems every time I drive near the hospital there’s something new being built, which is pretty good for the local community. It’s even better if you’re fortunate enough to be employed in one of the upper echelon positions at the hospital. It is kind of like you’ve found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Some people say monopolies work that way.
Nonetheless, we should hear more than just groundbreaking and ribbon cuttings, so a hat tip goes to Lee Newspapers.
