Super Bowl: More Info to Impress Your Friends

We’re getting closer! The big game is just three days away. Here are some other pieces of information about the Super Bowl just so you can impress your friends. Enjoy!

The Entertainment:

The entertainment during the Super Bowl has been as varied as our country. Here’s a look at some of the performers:

-In Super Bowl I (1967), the halftime entertainment was the Universities of Arizona and Michigan Bands.

-Carol Channing performed at halftime of Super Bowl IV (1970).

-Charlie Pride sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl VII (1974).

-The U.S. Air Force’s “Tops in Blue” performed at halftime of Super Bowl XIX (1985).

-In Super Bowl XXVIII (1994), Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, Wynonna & Naomi Judd performed.

-In Super Bowl XXXI (1997), the Blues Brothers-Dan Akroyd/John Goodman/James Belushi/James Brown and ZZ Top performed.

-Most of us remember Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, P. Diddy, Kid Rock, and Nelly performing at Super Bowl XXXVIII (2004). Hint: Wardrobe malfunction…which was nominated for Word of the Year in 2005 (for 2004) by the American Dialect Society

The name “Super Bowl”

There’s some confusion of how the game was named the “Super Bowl.” Most folks believe the late Lamar Hunt, owner of the Kansas City Chiefs named it the Super Bowl, but maybe not.
