By now most people have read or seen the video of the man going through security at a San Diego Airport. He was being patted down after refusing to go through a full body scan.
As he was being told the instructions for the pat down by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) official, he said, “If you touch my junk I am going to have you arrested.”
He also turned on his camera to record the event…
Now the video has gone viral.
Many people are upset with how far security has gone at airports.
Security of our Nation’s airlines is a very difficult job. It’s still one of our country’s weak spots and one that our enemies are probing all the time to see where they may be able to get through and inflict damage. They only have to succeed once. Our security personnel must be right all the time.
I’ve flown quite a lot and as someone who has some security experience, I probably understand more than most what the job of protecting our country entails. It’s tough to deal with people who don’t understand the big picture. It’s also tough to deal with the ever-changing threats from our enemies.
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer said it best in this Tweet:
I don’t like taking off my shoes, body scans or metal detectors. I also don’t like getting blown up. Thank you TSA for doing your job.
I’m not worried about the increased security, the full body scans, or TSA people touching my junk. I am worried about someone getting through security with a bomb or weapon and bringing down a plane load of people. Americans should still be worried about that, too.
