Caught My Eye…

The holidays are quickly approaching – it’s about 43 DAYS until Christmas. OMG!

Since it is Friday and you’re looking for something to do, don’t panic: I have come up with another edition of “Caught My Eye…”

Faithful readers know this is the almost award-winning weekly column where I take a look at some of the stories that I did not have time to comment about during the week. Sometimes I even add a little sarcasm! Psst…It’s a lot more exciting than the Great Falls Tribune’s “The Edge” column on Saturdays…

In this issue, you can find out how your favorite sports star leans in the political world, find out about a new App, see where they found a mouse, try out Google Maps, and much more.

So get yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy!

Sports and Politics:

These are a couple of my favorite things to write about, so it’s interesting to check out which way the sports star, team owner, or announcer leans in the political world.  You can check out where their donations went by clicking HERE.

Kind of gives you a whole new perspective…

Now What:

The Chairman of the Montana Democratic Party sent an e-mail with the subject, “Moving Forward.” In it he said, “There’s no denying we had a rough night last Tuesday. We expected better, but by the end of the evening we saw our expectations dashed.”

The e-mail was also loaded with clichés like, “It doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down, it’s how many times you get back up that counts” and “A journey of 10,000 miles begins with a single step.”

Maybe “it’s not the end of the world but we can see it from here” would have been a better way to put it…

But there’s good news:

…I saved a whole lot of money on my car insurance…just kiddin. At least the Montana Democrats can hang their hat on that they have probably taken out state senator and former GOP Gubernatorial Candidate, Roy Brown. The provisional ballots have been counted and Brown is trailing Kendall Van Dyk by 8 votes. A recount is coming…

WWBD:

People are starting to wonder What Will Brian Do (Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer) after 2012 since he is term-limited from running for Governor for a third term. Rumors are floating around that he may run for President. Schweitzer answered questions about it. You can check out the Lee Newspaper story HERE. Favorite line from BS: “Obama’s only been president for two years and all his hair has turned gray.”

There’s an App for that:

Before you “hook-up” you can do a test using your cell phone: Peeing on the cell phone to test for STDs is coming…. Click HERE for the story. Check out the caption on the photo: “Gives a whole new meaning to status update.”

Uh, huh….

Fertile Nights:

According to this STORY, “Lara Carter has slept with 20 strangers in the past year – in a desperate and reckless bid to get pregnant.”

Hey Lara – those cute and cuddly little babies grow up to be teenagers…wreck your car, eat all your food…

Japan to China:

Take a break and have a little fun with Google Maps. Try these directions:

1. Go to Google maps. 2. Go to “Get Directions.” 3. Type “Japan” as the start location. 4. Type “China” as the end location. 5. Scroll down to direction #43. 6. Giggle

The Trick Play:

A middle school football team ran a trick play and the video has gone viral. Watch it HERE. Hey Dallas Cowboys, are you watching?

Fights:

There were a couple of fights in professional sports this last week. First, we had the jockeys fighting (HERE) and then we had the NASCAR drivers fighting (HERE).

NASCAR is still in season? Wow. Maybe they will be driving with snow tires on soon…

Fighting jockeys = hilarious (Little fellas can fight, too – one broke my nose many years ago).

It was nice to see Jeff Gordon get mad for a change…

Missile or Plane?

Earlier this week what was thought to be a missile was launched off the coast of California. Now, people are saying it was just a plane – they think. But if you are missing a missile or inadvertently launched one, please call the CBS News affiliate KMFB in San Diego and let them know….

Good Feeling?

Maybe you missed the Wheel of Fortune clip of the lady selecting the letter “L” for a 27 letter phrase and with no other letters showing (except the apostrophe) she solved the puzzle, “I’ve Got a Good Feeling About This.” You can see the clip HERE. Remarkable. She won a free trip to Grenada…I hear it’s safe there now since Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Highway cleared the island…

I’m more of a Jeopardy fan myself…

November 1889:

November was a big month back in 1889 for statehood (No, I was not there). North Dakota and South Dakota joined the union on November 2, Montana on November 8, and Washington on November 11. Happy 121st Birthday to all…

Where’s the cake?

November 9, 1989:

That was a big day, too. The Berlin Wall came down and the Cold War started to end. I remember where I was that day. The East Germans starting building the wall in October 1961.

The Scorpions wrote a song partially about the wall coming down and freedom coming to communist countries, called “Winds of Change.” You can watch the video HERE. It’s one of my favorites…

Where NOT to put your Mouse:

We’re talking about the “mouse” for your computer. Does it even work in there? It was not wireless… Here’s the STORY.

Flowers Work Better:

A man was busted for waterboarding his girlfriend. Somehow this is probably Bush’s fault….
