The Montana media has been giving a lot of coverage to the Economic Summit in Butte this week. Like I said before, the event is mostly to help Senator Max Baucus, as well as other Democrats, get re-elected.
The economy is a mess, mostly because of the spending by the Democratic-controlled Congress and the Obama Administration.
So why not bring in a few friends to tell Montanans (and the country) things like the American economy is coming back, business is coming back, optimism is high, etc.
There’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, too.
It seems the big names attending the summit all have a goal of making sure people leave with the idea that this mess isn’t so bad after all – to make people feel a little better about those who are running the country – in other words sugarcoat it.
But the mess is very bad and it’s a hard pill to swallow.
The fact is the plans put forth by the Democrats are not working. The United States is spending too much, we have too much debt, our unemployment is way too high, and our country is in a deep recession.
There is a little bit of good news, though. Hotels and restaurants in Butte are being used. The hundreds of economic development folks in the state have something listed on their schedules to do and, above all else, the Montana media has a story to report.
