Like many people, I use Twitter to get my news, sports and weather. A lot of other people do, too. I found a story that Politico recently did about Republicans using Twitter more than Democrats interesting.
Politico reported:
Eight of the 10 most-followed Twitter accounts on Capitol Hill belong to Republicans, according to a report released Thursday by public relations firm Burson-Marsteller.
You can read the story HERE.
It appears that is true here in Montana, too.
Congressman Denny Rehberg uses Twitter and has over 2,500 followers. He follows 596 people. He also has a Rehberg campaign Twitter account.
It kind of mirrors the fact that Rehberg has been the leader in engaging Montanans.
I found two Twitter accounts with the name of Senator Max Baucus HERE and HERE. There are no followers or posts (tweets) or is he following anyone. There’s a NotMaxBaucus Twitter account that has some action on it.
As for Senator Jon Tester, I found one account under the name senatortester. It has 14 followers and no tweets. There’s also a jontester Twitter account with no followers and the website listed is his campaign website.
By the way, President Obama is ranked number four on Twitter according to Twitaholic a site dedicated to tracking the most popular Twitter users. Obama has 5,327,416 followers. Who is number one you may be asking. That’s Lady Gaga with 6,154,287 followers.
As for Montana, Pete Olson is the leader with 151,009 followers. Jack the Blogger comes in at number 39 in the state. (I need more followers).
