Harry & Jon

It is payback time for Senator Jon Tester. We all remember he was promised a seat on the Appropriations Committee by Majority Leader Harry Reid back in 2006. Now, Tester is paying back Reid for that seat by campaigning for him in Elko, Nevada.

On August 27, Tester was in Nevada campaigning for Reid according to this article (which was posted on Saturday, August 28).

Tester’s schedule that day listed “No Public Events” and I guess that must mean “public events” in Montana.

Tester has campaigned for quite a few folks in his three-plus years in office. Of course, these trips are mostly paid for by campaign funds by the people he’s campaigning for, and it’s legal to do, but it would be nice to know exactly how many trips he has taken to campaign for other people and the time he’s spent outside of Montana.

Maybe his scheduler will e-mail me a list (my e-mail is listed on this website). If not, maybe the Montana media will ask his office for a copy.

The last sentence in the article kind of sums up Tester’s feelings for Reid:

“Tester has been in office four years, and he said Reid is an effective majority leader.”

We all remember what Reid said in 2007 about the Iraq War. From CBS News:

I believe myself that the secretary of state, secretary of defense and — you have to make your own decisions as to what the president knows — (know) this war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything as indicated by the extreme violence in Iraq yesterday,” said Reid.

That statement hurt America. That hurt our troops. That is not an effective leader.

Unfortunately, Harry Reid will win reelection because of the extreme person that was chosen to run against him on the GOP ticket.

If we find out Senator Tester has been in San Francisco campaigning for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, we’ll be sure to let you know.
