Taking too long?

In a story that was only lightly covered, the Billings Gazette reported earlier this week that Ed Tinsley of Helena has withdrawn his name from consideration for Montana’s U.S. Marshal.

The Gazette reported that Tinsley said the process was taking too long.

Sometimes the process of being a Presidential appointee does take a while as there are very thorough background checks with many questions and follow-up questions, interviews and more interviews of friends and associates.

One would have thought that Montana’s two democratic U.S. Senators, the “powerful” Max Baucus and Jon Tester, would have ensured Tinsley’s nomination received the fast-track approach since Baucus’ former Chief of Staff is the Deputy Chief of Staff for President Obama and Tinsley was an official in the Democratic Party.

Guess not. That’s what makes Tinsley’s withdrawal interesting.
