There was some breaking news on the Circus front this week and, of course, I have to offer my opinion about the whole mess!
I owe an apology to the hundreds of my faithful readers as I was away from my computer for a couple of days, so I could not post my comments on this blog. I did make some comments on Twitter. You really need to follow me on Twitter!
The Circus being run by the Great Falls International Airport Board has now gone down the drain and into the sewer. Most people agree that they have mismanaged this whole mess from the start with their personal vendettas against Airport Director, Cynthia Schultz.
Sadly, it won’t get any better, Great Falls. It won’t get any better until the Board is dismissed and new people are brought on board who are not part of the good old boy network that keeps Great Falls from thriving.
Hopefully we can start by getting rid of the elected officials who appointed them.
Speaking of “good old boys” last month I commented about how the “good old boy” community had sunk to a new low when they did not select current Great Falls Airport Director, Cynthia Schultz, for an interview, although she was heads and tails a better candidate than the four “males” who were chosen.
I guess I was wrong about sinking to a new low. Now they are at sewer level – a stinking, smelly, rat-infested sewer!
Earlier this week, the Board just outright dismissed Director Schultz. I was not privy to receive a copy of the “Board’s statement” in my in-box from the Board Chairman, but I picked it up in the local paper and received tons of e-mails alerting me to the development.
At the time of this posting, they still show her listed on their website as the director. Incompetence all around!
The Great Falls Tribune gave the story this headline, “Great Falls airport director relieved of duties” while the Associated Press gave the story this headline, “Great Falls airport board ousts longtime director” which probably made the Board smile and give each other high-fives as they probably feel they really got her good.
I wonder where the Board members held the party.
Of course, to cover their butts they paid her and kept her benefits in tact until her contract ends in June and issued a “nice” statement. They are interviewing the four “male” candidates this week. I hope the “guys” conduct some research into this position before accepting.
You can read about the whole Circus on this blog by clicking on the drop-down menu under “Categories” on the right side of this screen and then picking “GFIA.”
Finally, congratulations Great Falls Airport Authority Board. You nailed her. I hope you sleep well at night. It’s your baby now – there’s nobody to stop you and you can bring the rest of airport down into the smelly sewer with you.

I know you and I disagree on this issue Jack. I am curious, though, at where you think an appointed board can and should draw the line when dealing with its employees. As long as the employee ‘performs,’ is it your opinion that any other failure to abide legal process must simply be overlooked?
Greg: Thanks for visiting. Your side won, so what does it matter? You should be partying!
I could give you a really long answer to your question, but it won’t matter or change the way you feel and it certainly won’t change the way I feel about the Board, those who appointed them, or the former director. Thanks for visiting! JtB
