The Circus: Act IV

For those of you who have been following my commentaries about the circus at the Great Falls International Airport, there’s more circus activity to report from this week.

According to the Great Falls Tribune, “Cascade County commissioners on Tuesday reappointed Susan Humble, president of Anderson Steel Supply Co., to a seat on the Great Falls Airport Authority, along with Joe Tropila, a longtime state lawmaker.”

Also, according to the Tribune, “Tropila will replace Ed Buttrey, an incumbent who sought reappointment to the Airport Authority. Buttrey is president of Cable Technology Inc.”

As far as I can tell, Buttrey was the only board member who supported Airport Director Cynthia Schultz.  In my humble opinion, he’s also the only board member who understood the great work that Schultz has done as airport director.

I could have said he was the only one who has any common sense, but that would be mean-spirited.

Now the Great Falls Airport Board will be unanimous in this foolish move.

Like I said before, it does not take a rocket scientist to understand the current board members are doing here.  Jealousy of her salary, the urgent need for micromanagement, and anti-strong female sediment are just a few of things that come to mind.

So now with new members and along with the current board, we can look forward to watching them screw up the great work Schultz has done in 10+ years as director.

As I have written before, the Great Falls community continues to spend money on really stupid things.  This is another example as they are now spending upwards of $35,000 (of our money) to hire someone to hunt for a new director.  Good grief.

I wonder who would want this job?

The Western Word will be watching those in elected positions who allowed (and appointed) board members to screw up the airport.  With the 2-0 vote by the county commissioners this week, there are already two who won’t get my vote.
