The Circus: Act II

Faithful readers may remember the circus that is going on at the Great Falls International Airport with the “authority” Board each month during their meetings.  You can read my past comments about the circus HERE and HERE.

Bad news to report:  The circus continues.  Instead of the board members just quitting and going on with their lives (I recommended that), they have now decided to spend close to $40,000 (probably more) to search for a new director, although the one that they now have (Cynthia Schultz) is doing (and has done) a very commendable job for over 10 years.

Great Falls is known for spending money on stupid things.  This is another example.

Maybe it’s because Schultz is a strong female and the Board is male-dominated.  Maybe it’s because she makes more money than some of the Board members.  That’s my speculation from what I have read and heard around the community.  I do know that the actions of the Great Falls Airport Authority Board have given us a new definition of silliness, not to mention bordering on stupidity, in my opinion.

One thing for sure from reading the article in the local newspaper, the Great Falls Tribune, the board is having to dot their I’s and cross their T’s.  That is good because they are way out of line on this decision.

It would be nice if about five of the six board members started 2010 off by submitting their resignations to their respective commissions.  Starting 2010 with a clean slate with less power-hungry board members would be just what the doctor ordered to repair the damage the Board has done to the Airport, the City of Great Falls, and Cascade County.

Getting a lump of coal in their stockings this Christmas would be just fine with me, too.
