Seriously?

Just when people thought we’d heard (and read) it all this election season, Lee Newspapers of Montana published a story about a candidate’s eating habits.

The Chairman of the Montana Democratic Party, Dennis McDonald, forwarded an e-mail around from Republican Roy Brown’s neighbor, saying Brown is a vegetarian.

Yes, you read that correctly, a vegetarian. Seriously.

Brown was asked about this “election-changing” claim by his neighbor and he was quoted in the story as saying, “I am not and have never been a vegetarian.”

Now that’s investigative journalism!

Articles like this one makes people want to take the reporter’s computer away and run over it with their vehicle for even writing about something this ridiculous. The story is subscription-canceling goofy. I would expect stuff like this on Saturday Night Live or Comedy Central, but not from a daily newspaper.

Journalism went a little further down the toilet today. Lee Newspapers is leading the way.
