In many dictionaries we find that judgment is the ability to make a decision or form an opinion objectively, authoritatively, and wisely, esp. in matters affecting action; good sense; discretion. It is also the mental ability to perceive and distinguish relationships; discernment.
Judgment must be a major issue in the Presidential campaign. Often we can look into a candidate’s past to see how he/she voted on issues or the statements they made, or whom they associated and we can get a good idea of their judgment.
The millions of people who favor Barack Obama in this election have not looked very closely at his past judgments, which I believe gives a glimpse into what the future may hold if he is elected President.
Several relationships Obama has shown he exercised bad judgment. Here are a few of these relationships:
Barack Obama sat in the Church for 20 years listening to his Pastor and spiritual advisor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright spew hatred toward America. Wright married Barack and Michelle Obama. He baptized their children. Sure, it is documented that Obama “denounced Wright’s remarks, but did not disown him as a person.” This was until he finally saw that Wright was hurting his Presidential campaign, then he dropped him.
Another of Barack Obama’s close friends, Tony Rezko, was recently found guilty of six counts of wire fraud, six counts of mail fraud, two counts of corrupt solicitation, and two counts of money laundering. Rezko helped kick off Obama’s campaign. We also know a little about the sweet land deal he helped facilitate for Obama.
Probably the worst (that we have discovered so far) lack of judgment shown by Barack Obama is his relationship with William Ayers and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn. Ayers co-founded the Weather Underground. This group performed bombings in the 1960s and 1970s, most notably bombing the Pentagon, the Capitol, and New York City Police Headquarters. Ayers has no regrets. Nobody should claim that Obama supports what Ayers and his group did, although it is perfectly fine to ask him this question. What people should question is the judgment of Barack Obama in even having this relationship at all.
Yes, a candidate’s past judgment gives us an idea what his future judgments may hold. Long ago during the Democratic primary, I had doubts about Barack Obama’s judgment – especially when it dealt with his relationships. Never in our lifetime have we seen a Presidential nominee have such a poor lack of judgment in their past associations with felons, terrorists, and hateful people.
This election is far too important for the voters of the United States to take Obama’s lack of good judgment in the past for granted. It is a very serious issue that needs critical attention before a voter checks the box for Barack Obama.
In my opinion, Barack Obama has shown he lacks good judgment to be the President of the United States.
