Update: Sometime this afternoon, Senator Tester’s office responded to Politico.com and they report his “office says he has no mortgages.”
—————-
Most of us have, by now, heard about the sweet deals a couple of Senators, Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), received on their home mortgages.
Due to those sweetheart deals, Politico.com has been asking Senators about their home mortgages. According to their story (Full story linked HERE):
Although senators are not required to disclose information about their mortgages, Politico put the question to them. Earlier this week, Politico staffers called every Senate office and asked for the answers to three questions:
1. Who is the senator’s home mortgage lender (or lenders, if the senator has more than one residence)?
2. Whom did the senator contact to arrange the loan?
3. Did the senator receive any special terms?
They report that Montana’s U.S. Senator Max Baucus’ office has told them “he has not had a home mortgage for 10 years.”
They are still waiting for U.S. Senator Jon Tester to respond. Tester is one of the few senators who have not responded. We’re waiting, too.
