Update 06/12/08: The truth about Barack’s birth certificate

The Obama team has posted his birth certificate on his Fight the Smears section of his campaign website.

Barack Hussein Obama II was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961. You can view the birth certificate and additional information from the Obama campaign HERE.

Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama has a new section on his website called Fight the Smears to address some of the rumors floating around the Internet about him.

It appears Obama’s “War Room” is up and running. I posted some comments about it yesterday.

According to an article posted on Time.com:

For more than a year, Obama relied on conventional means to confront the blogosphere’s superheated rumor mill—to little effect. The “fact-check” feature on his website, for instance, only seemed to spawn more, and wilder, rumors. A mention there of Obama’s birth certificate spurred National Review Online to demand that he produce it to dispel groundless reports that Obama was actually born in Kenya and therefore would be constitutionally ineligible to be President; that his middle name is not Hussein but Muhammad; and that his mother actually named him Barry. That National Review article in turn became fodder for cable television.

Time.com also reported that:

“…the campaign plans to post a .pdf of Obama’s birth certificate.”

And the fun has just begun!

  3. Hey Wulfgar: I was waiting for it to be placed on Obama’s fight the smears website. I checked a few minutes ago and it is posted now. So I will post the new information.As you have seen in the past, I post updates and corrections in red at the top of the post. This update will be no different for Senator Obama. -Jack

  4. So, I guess I’m wondering, Jack. Why haven’t you updated your post to indicate that the ‘Fight The Smears’ campaign seems to work? It strikes me that might be something worth noting to one who posted about it in the first place …
