Holy Cow

Sometimes when you are watching the results come in from across the state, it makes you shake your head in disbelief. That was the case last night.

85 year-old Bob Kelleher, running on the GOP ticket this time, won the GOP nomination to take on U.S. Senator Max Baucus. Kelleher won the GOP race by some 9,800 votes.

U.S. Senator Jon Tester’s candidate, Jim Hunt, lost to John Driscoll by some 10,700 votes. Driscoll did not campaign.

Cascade County did not disappoint as they were again delayed in the getting the results out. It’s always something…

I found the Billings Gazette was the place I could find the results quickly, and their website was updated frequently. The Secretary of State’s office did a fine job with a new and improved website for the election. I also enjoyed reading the “Live Blogging” from Jay Stevens at Left in the West.

As we head into the General Election contests, it is clear that anything can happen. The favorites will have Tuesday night in the back of their minds as they go through the summer and approach November. It should be a fun ride.
