On Saturday I happened to run across this story about Lee Newspapers closing their Washington, D.C. news bureau.

Some readers are probably saying, “I didn’t know they even had a bureau in Washington, D.C.”

It’s supposedly because of rising expenses. For many years they could have placed a cardboard cutout of a person with a pad and pen in the office and we probably would not have known the difference. Isn’t that what they’ve been using in Helena for the last 10 years?

Many readers will miss the breaking news of Max’s new black BMW being scratched or Max holding fundraisers at Abramoff’s restaurant or his wife fighting over mulch. Whoops, those stories were not reported by Lee Newspapers…never mind.

OK, go ahead and close it. I’m fine with it. The Montana leftie and rightie bloggers will take up the slack.
