And sometimes they just outright lie

Over at the Politics Nation blog, they had an interesting story about the leadership of one side of the aisle or the other promising key committee assignments to candidates to help them win their race.

By the way, they did not mention anyone getting promised a “key” seat on the Senate Finance Committee. (Note: I intentionally left out the word powerful before Senate Finance Committee)

Here in Montana, we saw promises made by the democrats back in 2006 about getting Jon Tester a seat on the Senate Appropriations committee. Politics Nation contends this is a “top committee.” (Note: they did not mention the Senate Finance Committee as a top committee)

Politics Nation noticed that broken promise from 2006 here in Montana as well:

Sometimes, though, party leader promises don’t work out. In 2006, Republican Senator Conrad Burns made an issue of the fact that his perch on the Appropriations Committee would help him bring more money back to Montana. Democrats blunted that criticism by promising his opponent, Democrat Jon Tester, a seat on the same panel. Tester won by a very narrow margin, but when he got to Congress the committee was full, despite assurances from Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid.

My faithful readers already know about other broken promises like lowering gas prices, ending the war, ethics audits, etc.

Meanwhile, that broken promise in 2006 cost Montana funding for and completion of water projects, housing and missiles have been lost at Malmstrom and the backers of road projects are scrambling for funding.

I wonder what promises they will not fulfill this year.
