A big shout out goes to eleven Montanans who are members of the group called, “Vets for Freedom.” They are Iraq war veterans, and they recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to tell the other side of the story.
According to their website, “Vets for Freedom is a nonpartisan organization established by combat veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our mission is to educate the American public about the importance of achieving success in these conflicts by applying our first-hand knowledge to issues of American strategy and tactics in Iraq. We support policymakers from both sides of the aisle who have stood behind our great generation of American warriors on the battlefield, and who have put long-term national security before short-term partisan political gain.”
They heard Senator Jon McCain give a speech, and they met Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester to let them know that pulling out of Iraq would be a big mistake. I hope Senators Baucus and Tester actually met with them, instead of some junior staffer who gained their military knowledge from watching reruns of Gomer Pyle – USMC.
A big thanks goes to the Montana Chapter of the Vets for Freedom.
