According to the Great Falls Tribune and confirmed by base officials, it looks like the 2006 federal funding for the housing at Malmstrom AFB has been released.
Unfortunately, the number of homes they are building has been cut by 111 units due to the loss of a quarter of the missile mission.
All three members of Montana’s Congressional delegation rejoiced in the news, although one senator was not in office when the money was initially approved. Yep, it’s all about getting your name in the paper!
I have blogged about the housing issue before, saying: It has been wrapped up in red tape for a year partly because the Democratic minority in late 2006 did not want to pass any funding bills that would give the Republican majority at that time a positive issue to run on.
But now it appears it is back on course and that’s good news.
