It looks like State Senator Larry Jent has decided not to challenge Congressman Denny Rehberg, according to this story from KTVQ in Billings.

If given more time, Jent may have been a formidable challenge to Rehberg. Jent is a veteran – what more is there to say?

Since it’s February 2008, it will be tough for a candidate to jump into this race and raise enough funds to mount a serious campaign. Stranger things have happened, but I am sure Rehberg is breathing a little easier every day.

Rehberg was recently appointed to a seat on the House Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee, which is good for Montana. His work on the House Appropriations Committee makes him very valuable to Montana, since our two senators have no seats on the Senate Appropriations committee.
